Proportions
Jerry bought 4 staple packages for $32 how much money would have to pay
if he bought 9 staple packages?
Step 1:First you have to set up your
proportions and in this problem Jerry bought
4 packages of staples for 32. We need to find
out how much money does Jerry need for 9
staple packages.
9
32*9=4x
288=4x
X=72
/4/4
Staple
Packages
Dollars
4
32 x
Step 2:Next we have to cross
multiply to set up a math sentence problem
to solve. 32 times 9 equals 288. We still have
4x, so now it’s 288=4x
Step 3:Finally we have to divide
each side by 4 and the answer is 72. So
Jerry has to pay $72 dollars for 9 packages
of staples.
Footlocker has a sale for the new Airforce Jordans, 45% off the next pair of Airforce
Jordans . The Jordans are $120 and how much money would you save.
Step 1:First you have to
put the problem in a
proportion.
x
45*120=100x
5400=100x
54
/100/100
45
100 120
Step 2:Next we have to put
the proportion into a word problem
to solve. So 45*120=100x and 45
times 120 equals 5400. Now it’s
5400=100x.
Step 3:Now since it’s
5400=100x we have to divide on
each side by 100 to get our
answer.
Unit Reflection
I liked all of things that we did in the unit because I
know how solve it or work the problems out.
I didn’t like when we have to spend so much time on
the same problems.
The hardest part was when I first started to learn the
is over of.
The easiest part was at the end when I knew how to
do everthing.
