This document summarizes three stories of individuals experiencing poverty in Italy and analyzes the approaches of several Italian political parties to addressing poverty. It describes the stories of Angelo, a 50-year-old unemployed man who was forced to beg; Valeria, a disabled woman whose husband has leukemia; and Andrea, a divorced man living in a social center who can only call his son. It then outlines the proposals of several parties, including increased minimum wage from Partito Democratico, a citizenship income from Movimento 5 Stelle, and help for southern Italian industry from Forza Italia. Lega Nord's food donation project failed due to restricting help to Italian families only.

Angelo is 50 years old and he has two sons. He has been unemployed for two years and he decided to send his
two sons and his wife to Albania ( his wife’s country ) to give them a home where to live and a little fortune.
“ I was looking for a job in Rome but there was anything for a fifty-year-old man. I asked the local authority for
some help. The only answer was “ There is no cash ”. I wandered in Italy for six months looking for a job but
for a man like me there was nothing to do.”
One day he received a call from his wife: she told him that she had a brain cancer and she had to do a lot of
medical treatments.
“ I’m come back to Rome and I’m forced to beg for 6 months. All that I earn I send it to my family in Albania”.
Dispite of the fact that he has had an hard life, now Angelo is able to reach his family in Albania.
He is going to open a bar and he hope his conditions will improve.
4. VALERIA’S STORY
Valeria lives in Vicenza with her husband and her son Davide: he’s 17 years old.
She is a disabled person because she has had a lot of problems with her legs; her
hausband has got leukemia and the treatment is extremely expensive. They live in
a small flat and all of them sleep in the same bedroom. This is not wealth for the
son Davide, because his father often is ill.
The wife is forced to beg. Because of this very bad condition, they ask for some
help to the local authority, but the only answer has been “ We deem that the three
individual can work without limitation “.
5. ANDREA’S STORY
Andrea has just divorced from his wife Sabrina and she lives alone
with their son Giorgio.
Sabrina is an nurse and currently she’s good economically. Andrea lives in a
social centre in Florence. He works four hours a day and earns €400 a month.
He never meet his son and he can only call him. He is not able to ensure

8. MESSAGGERO VENETO
Lega nord had organized a colletion of food in
collaboration with caritas to help the families in
difficulty, but the project was fallen because the Lega
party wanted to help only the italian families and caritas
couldn’t give the name of the families for reason of
privacy in respect of his clients.
It’s obvious that Laga Nord had organized it to promote
their campaign and they hadn’t a really interest to
suffering people.
The principale of charity, in fact, is that who recives
shouldn’t never know who gives.
