This document contains summaries of 14 projects designed by the author between 1992-2008 during and after their university studies. The projects range from residential to commercial and include guest houses, a youth centre, exhibition buildings, schools and industrial/research facilities. For each project, the author provides brief details about their role, the year it was designed, software used and notes on the modeling or studies conducted. The projects showcase the author's progression from early hand drawings to 3D modeling and building information modeling (BIM).
The document profiles ten emerging architects and design firms in their 30s and 40s. It discusses Rafiq Azam's apartment building in Dhaka, Bangladesh that incorporates plants and ventilation. It describes Anthony Bernheimer and Jared Della Valle's firm that designed condominium buildings in Brooklyn using recycled materials. It also outlines Chris Bosse's background and a pavilion he designed that uses bubble-like forms.
Simple Design Solutions to Improve Lives Around the World - Images Only VersionJose Briones
80% of humanity lives on less than $10/day. If you are part of the world's lowest socioeconomic level you may be living on a house that can barely be called that. It's a collection of sticks, cardboard, plastic sheet. A dirt floor, no water, electricity or sewage. Enter frugal innovation or frugal engineering: The process of reducing the complexity and cost of a good and its production. Usually this refers to removing nonessential features from a durable good in order to sell it in developing countries. In this chapter of the "Beyond Stage Gate" series, we explore simple, low cost, effective and proven global design solutions that do not require exotic technology but that when combined can dramatically improve the quality of life of people around the world.
Raimond de Hullu is an architect from the Netherlands who was inspired by nature as a child. His concept called OAS1STM envisions creating houses shaped like trees and communities like forests using green walls. This innovative design approach aims to make architecture more sustainable, desirable and affordable while improving urban environments and the lives of both people and nature. The goal is to develop this concept into a pilot project and book to demonstrate tree-like cottages that fuse people and the environment into a harmonious whole.
This document provides details about Louis Kahn's Fred E. and Elaine Cox Clever House in Cherry Hill, New Jersey. Some key points:
- The house was commissioned in 1967 and is one of only nine built houses designed by Kahn.
- The central living room is surrounded by five smaller rooms, each with a pyramidal roof. The living room has a complex roof structure made of four large angled sections.
- The property is currently in disrepair with unkempt landscaping, which is a shame as it is an important work by a prominent architect.
The document discusses proposed plans for the construction of Hostel No. 09 at the Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati in Assam, India. It provides background on the institute and describes the existing campus facilities. It then outlines the design consultants' philosophy of focusing on the client's needs. Several concepts for the hostel design are proposed that take into account the site features and constraints, phased construction plans, circulation paths, and climate. The importance of natural light and ventilation in building design is also discussed.
The document summarizes the designer's portfolio, highlighting projects that showcase their strengths in CAD modeling, rendering, modelmaking, and maintaining a clear design concept. Key projects include an ergonomic classical guitar, energy efficient floor lamp, and avalanche survival jacket incorporating breathing and location systems.
The document discusses copyright and how it protects original creative works. It notes that copyright is automatic when a work is created and covers books, art, and content online. It advises that to use a copyrighted work, permission must be obtained from the owner by writing a letter requesting use and citing the source. Rules around using copyrighted material depend on whether it will be for educational or commercial purposes.

This project will study the energy consumption of three residential buildings built in the 1950s in Denmark and propose renovations to reduce their energy usage and improve efficiency. The project will analyze the buildings' current conditions and energy demands, suitable renewable energy sources, effective insulation improvements, upgraded installation systems, and estimated energy savings post-renovation. Students will use design, energy analysis, planning and office programs to develop renovation proposals for the buildings that follow Danish regulations while maintaining original aspects where possible.

Architectural Model Solar Decathlon
The concept was a modular design that can be stacked horizontally or vertically,
acting like a brick. It can be built as a standard single house or a block of flats
formed from several “brick-houses”. The house itself would also be built from
separate independent modules. As it has a suspended pier foundation, the house
can be built in one place or be disassembled and be moved to any other location.

Spa Summer House
The project comprises of a summer house developed on a flat sloped terrain in
connection to the beach. Because of this, the goal was to give the design a “spa-influence”.
On both sides of the house there are canopy lounge areas with washing
facilities as well as a barbeque. The zones are divided by semi-transparent curtains.

extends on the wood plank terrace. The backyard has sail-like dining zones and a
camping area for further out-door activities. The canopy lounges are also present.

2.Storey Single-family House /Concept I/
The clients wished for a modern design with renewable energy from the sun and
geothermal heating. This concept proposed a simple and functional design where
the glass South façade receives maximum sunlight and the north façade is ‘buried’
in the steep terrain, preventing heat loss. The eastern terrace features a roof
system with integrated photo-voltaic panels.

A more developed concept of the “half-buried” design. The high sloping terrain
allowed for a two storey design where the groundfloor is ‘buried’ below the site. In
the back, the slope continues downwards, allowing for big windows with view to
the natural surroundings. Simple, hard angles were used to enforce the modern
look, with wood and dark gray accents.

Country house Round house
The project was to develop a modern-day ‘villa’ on a large terrain, featuring riding
rings, horse stables, a swimming pool and a tennis court. The design adopted the
shape of the terrain, which was a subtle curve. This extended to the patio as well.
The wall materials have very little heat-loss, making it a low energy building.

Country house Round house
The curved design was enforced by a single sloped roof supported by stone pillars
front and back. In the front of the house, the circle theme is continued with a glass
cylinder entrance. The back also features a curved glass entrance, with view to the
sweeping landscape.

Kindergarten /Bachelor project/
The project is an institutional development for new-born children and toddlers up
to six years old. It features a large rectangular one storey space with a multitude of
rooms. The interior is designed with many corners where children can hide and
corridors that can serve as ‘multi-rooms’ depending on the occasion. The many
rooms of the building are ‘united’ by the large sloping roof.

Although it is just one storey, the space is divided into different functions: staff
area, classrooms, day-care, sleeping area and common space. The classroom space
is divided by the staff offices through a large corridor in the middle. In the center of
the building, the common eating area is the “heart” of the building where all the
children and staff meet.

Housing Development Frederikshavn
A new terrain was developed in Frederiskhavn for a suburban housing area. The
plots were divided and put on sale. The task was to place several dwelling examples
on the new plots to attract clients. In this way, they could buy the plot together
with a house project designed specifically for that area at a more affordable price.
Individual work: Overall plot arrangement, 4 Dwelling Designs, Renders, Website.
