2. The Muppets
December 30
A bit of a cheat, because it launches at the end of
December, but it'll definitely be in full swing
throughout January if Channel 7 sticks with it (which
is always a toss up). The Muppets return in a brand
new sitcom that is sure to please both parents and
kids alike. Kids will want to tune in for the cute
puppets and the slapstick, and parents will love the
callbacks to the old series and the meta­humour.

3. Circus Oz
Dec 31 - Jan 24
Breathtaking feats, serious fun, and humour for
all ages is to be found at Australia's longest
running Circus, touring NSW throughout
January. The Circus Oz show is a rock­n­roll,

4. Snoopy & Charlie Brown:
The Peanuts Movie
January 1
Charles Schulz's beloved Peanuts characters get a 3D
makeover in their first movie in a few decades. This is
the perfect way to introduce your kids to Charlie
Brown, Snoopy, Woodstock and the gang, and maybe
bring back a few memories in the process.

5. Silvers Circus
Jan 7 - Feb 31
The second circus that's touring during January, this
time for Victorian residents. Silvers, from humble
beginnings 37 years ago, has evolved into a critically
acclaimed attraction, deemed one of the Top 10
Circuses of the World. Silvers Circus presents a line
up of stunning international artists, Las Vegas style
illusions and captivating production techniques. See

6. Sydney Festival
January 7 - 26
A month­long celebration of the arts kicks off on Jan 7 in
venues across Sydney. Highlights for families include:
Family week ­ runs from the 12th to the 16th, and it's jam
packed with heaps of great stuff for school holiday fun.
The Ephemeral City ­ a crowd­built city made entirely
from cardboard boxes and tape situated in the
Barangaroo Reserve. Help out in the construction, or just
delight in it's demolition on Australia Day.

7. Sydney Festival - Cont.
January 7 - 26
Arquitectura De Feria ­ Head on down to Prince Alfred
Square in Parramatta for a truly original fairground. Adults
and children play together, twirling handles and spinning
pedals to operate the whimsical machines – including a
hand­cranked Ferris wheel fitted out with toilet seats and
a bicycle­powered carousel with a whirling crocodile and
a rocket ship.

8. Dirty Dancing
January 7
Relive the summer when 17 year­old Baby
Houseman (Jennifer Grey) met Johnny Castle
(Patrick Swayze), the dance instructor from the
wrong side of the tracks, and a classic romance
was born. Probably a bit too racy for the younger
kidlets, but if they're old enough it might be time

9. Golden Globe Awards
January 11
Ricky Gervais returns to host the 73rd
Annual Golden Globe Awards live from
Beverly Hills. If you're anything like us, this is
the perfect time to start a list of all the
movies and TV shows you missed
throughout the year! This one's just for
grownups though, Gervais is a bit racy for
the younger set.

10. Cinderella (1950)
January 12
Foxtel's Disney Movie Channel is hosting a month­
long celebration of their very best films, and on
the 12th they're screening the 1950 classic
Cinderella. If you haven't introduced the kids yet
(and you have Foxtel) now might be the time to
start. Little girls will love the story of the
downtrodden maiden who becomes a beautiful
princess, and there's enough there to keep the
boys interested as well.

11. Goosebumps
January 14
We grew up on the Goosebumps books, so we're
excited that they've finally given us a movie
version. With so much to draw from, it seems like
they're going with a throw everything at the wall
kind of approach by including all the monsters. But
if there's some laughs, and a jump or two, kids big
and a small should have a good time.

12. DC's
Legends Of Tomorrow
January 20
The small screen's love affair with superheroes
continues with DC's Legends Of Tomorrow, airing
here on Foxtel channel Fox8 (also the home of
Supergirl, The Flash and Arrow). If you or the
munchkins are crazy about all things super, this
might be one to tune in for, with more heroes than
you can shake a spandex unitard at.

13. Ferris Bueller's Day Off
January 21
Join Ferris, Cameron and Sloane on their last
day of adventure before they finish high
school. It's always a good time to introduce
your kids to this 80's classic, but don't be

14. Australia Day
January 26

15. Grease Sing-A-Long
January 28
We finish our month on a musical note, as the
Moonlight cinema takes you back to Rydell High to
relive the summer romance between Sandy and
Danny that launched a thousand karaoke sing­a­
longs. And sing­a­long you shall at this screening,
where the lyrics are on screen and the audience is
encouraged to belt it out along with the movie. See
