Poetry: The village
by Shaheen Darr

The laughter of children echo all around
Scaring the little animals into the trees
Scolding mothers sigh to their wasted words
As they cook on the outdoor fires
Men tend to their farms
Tilling earth that is ripe and fertile
The elders warm their aching limbs in the sun
Singing songs of days gone by
Simple lives, simple needs,
A little fulfilling a lot, no room for greed
Human beings and animals, one with nature
Just how nature meant it to be
The village, pure, untouched and carefree
