Zanzibar is an archipelago off the coast of Tanzania in East Africa consisting of numerous small islands and two main islands, Unguja and Pemba. The islands have a long history as a trading hub and were once the center of the slave trade. Today, Zanzibar has a tropical climate and economy based on spices, fishing, and tourism, with beautiful beaches and historic sites that attract many visitors each year.
