The Consul General of Germany, Mr. Rohde, inaugurates the Vocational Training
Centre at Peenya, Bengaluru
Friday, May 15 marks an important day for vocational education training in Karnataka: the Peenya Advance
Centre for Excellence (PACE) will be formally inaugurated by the Consul General of Germany Mr.
Rohde. In a distinctive move, Siemens Industry Software, India (SISW) has partnered with an industry
conglomerate namely Peenya Industries Association (PIA) and the Don Bosco Tech (DB Tech) to form
the Peenya Advance Centre for Excellence (PACE). This will help to address key issues in Peenya
Industrial Area like the non-availability of skilled manpower, limited capital and knowledge, lack of access to
and low adoption of suitable technology and low production capacity. PACE is soon set to train up to 1500
trainees in a year.
German competence in dual vocational training is well reputed around the world. Germany’s concept for
vocational training builds the basis for its economic success: vocational training institutes and the industry
collaborate to teach the young theoretical and practical knowledge simultaneously. Dual vocational training
combines theoretical education at a vocational training institute with on-the-job training in work processes in
a company.
Dual vocational training ensures the availability of a skilled, highly trained workforce, which in turn provides
the solid basis for a company’s competitive advantage. German companies in India recognise the merits of
this system and are introducing this concept in a big way. Siemens Industry Software, India has successfully
implemented this system in Gujarat and as of now in Karnataka. In Bengaluru, they have tied up with several
educational institutions to implement training of industry-relevant technology and processes through the
Siemens Manufacturing Excellence platform. This platform serves the SME industry segment that focuses on
an interdisciplinary, industry backed program. It is particularly tailored to develop skill excellence for the
manufacturing Sector.
This year marks a special milestone in the Indo-German bilateral friendship since India has been the partner
country at the Hannover Messe in Germany where Prime Minister Modi pitched the ‘Make in India’ program
at the largest industrial trade fair in the world. In order to make the ‘Make in India’ campaign successful, a
large pool of qualified specialists are needed, with the setting up of PACE we are a step closer to realising
that goal.
The inauguration of PACE will take place in Bengaluru on 15th May 2015 at Peenya Trade Center
Conference Hall (1st cross,1st stage Peenya) by the Consul General of Germany Mr. Rohde,
Managing Director of Siemens Industry Software Mr. Suman Bose, President of Peenya Industries
Association Mr. D.T. Venkatesh and Director of Don Bosco Tech Father Joseph Aikarchalil.
