Mission Statement:
Positive Images is a therapeutic
community for addicted adult females
and their families who have difficulty
functioning due to chemical
dependency. It provides intensive
substance abuse treatment, domicile,
childcare, shelter plus support
services, and collaborates with
existing community programs. The
agency is a private, nonprofit
organization designed to address the
special needs of recovering people.
Overview:
The primary goal of the program is to
reduce substance abuse problems
through the use of therapeutic
treatment. Supportive services

supervised childcare.

Admission Requirements
Clients must:
 Be adults, eighteen years of age or
older;
 Admit to being chemically
dependent or having a drug related
problem;
 Be mentally and physically able to
participate in the program;
 Be willing to comply with all
program rules and procedures; and,
 Not require acute detoxification.
Priorities for admission are:
 Pregnant abusers
 Injecting drug users
 Women with children
 Persons with infectious diseases
 All others

Positive Images II
Positive Images II is designed specifically to meet
the needs of homeless women recovering from
substance abuse. The program is a family-style
residence serving women with children or
pregnant women.
Positive Images II Supportive Housing Program is
a 32 unit apartment building that provides housing
and a supportive environment to homeless
women and their children who are working on
developing or improving the skills necessary to
live independently. The following services are
provided onsite:
Substance Abuse Treatment – Mental Health
Services
Clinical Staff offer individual, family, and group
counseling on a daily basis. The overall
treatment focus is to assist residents in achieving
and/or maintaining abstinence from drugs and to
enhance their coping skills. The program
includes Anger Management Workshops, Dual-
diagnosis Groups, and Play Therapy for children.
Employment
The Skill Trade Program teaches residents how to
perform simple plumbing and repair tasks.
Women have the opportunity to participate in an
apprentice program. Staff assists residents with
resume writing, job skills, interview skills, and
referrals to MRS.
Independent Living Program
The Independent Living Coordinator assists
women in creating a safe and nurturing
Positive Images II
environment, and with financial and time
management skills
Nutritional Program
This program addresses meal planning and
shopping, and provides snacks for our
children’s program. The cook provides
instruction on food preparation. All residents
participate in preparation of a family style meal
on Sundays. Residents learn how to feed their
families with limited funds and enjoy the
company of others.
Health Program
Women learn how to develop and maintain a
healthy lifestyle. Weekly individual
appointments with a medical doctor are
offered. Instruction is provided on diabetes.
An exercise program is available.
Empowerment Group
Women and their children develop healthy
coping skills and receive assistance in
resolving daily life challenges.
Child Care Program
We offer child care while the resident attends
therapeutic treatment or other support services.
Transportation Services
Transportation assistance may be provided to
participants who qualify for this service.
Positive Images Maternal &
Infant Health Program
The Positive Images Maternal & Infant
Health Program (MIHP) is a non-medical
support program for women and teens
who are pregnant or have an infant less
than one year of age and who receive
Medicaid. The program is intended to
help those women most likely to
experience serious health problems due
to psychosocial or nutritional problems.
The program is designed to assist primary
health care workers in managing the
beneficiary’s health and well-being.
Services are provided during visits to the
mother’s home by registered nurses,
registered dieticians, and licensed social
workers. These professionals provide
maternal and infant health assessment,
psychosocial assessment, and one on
one counseling. Instruction is also
provided in the areas of prenatal
education, infant growth and
development, lactation, parenting,
nutrition, and safety.
MIHP also provides referrals to
community agencies, transportation
assistance to all medical and therapeutic
appointments and resource referrals.
