This document discusses three common phobias: trypanophobia which is an irrational fear of needles or injections causing people to avoid medical treatment; arachnophobia which is an extreme fear of spiders that can lead to children being teased; and claustrophobia which is an irrational fear of being closed in or having no escape that causes people to avoid places like subways or elevators even if they need to travel many floors.
