1. “Phases of the Moon” Project
Celebration of the Mid-Autumn Festival (中秋節)
Dear Parents,
We are going to do “Phases of the Moon” project from September 1 to September 27.
The purpose of this project is to have students observe the changing of the moon through
one month cycle. Due day for this project is 9/28.
Here are the materials needed for this project:
 2 pages of the “cut-and-stick moons” paper (provide)
 1 September calendar for students to cut and paste the moon (provide)
 Scissors and glue
If the weather is not permitted for moon observation or your house location is blocked by
mountain or other buildings, I suggest your child team with other classmates to finish this
project. You may look at the internet for reference as well.
September 30 is Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival (aka Moon Festival 中秋節). We are going to
wrap up this project by having a small party during our Mandarin period on 9/28. If parents
would like to provide/donate moon cakes and share with the class, please let me know.
