Tia is a 10-year-old girl who lives with her mom, dad, brother, and dog Daisy. She enjoys school, dance, gymnastics, drawing, and other typical girl activities. Tia likes chocolate, gymnastics, dance, school, drawing, electronics, and playing outside, but dislikes smoking, most bugs, candy canes, and sharks.
This document provides an overview and summary of the book "How to Win Friends and Influence People" by Dale Carnegie. It discusses how the book was written based on Carnegie's experiences teaching communication and human relations courses. It details how he conducted extensive research by reading biographies, interviewing successful people, and having students test principles in their daily lives. The book grew out of this experimentation as a practical guide to improving relationships. It highlights some success stories of people applying the concepts to get better results in business and personal life.
The document discusses violence and abuse against women. It defines domestic violence, dating violence, and other types of violence women face. It provides statistics on domestic violence in the US, such as 1 in 4 women experiencing intimate partner violence. It also lists signs of abusive and unhealthy relationships, and signs of healthy relationships. It includes quotes about violence against women from public figures.
The document is a presentation about polyclinic waiting time problems and solutions at Tawam Hospital in the UAE. It introduces the presenter and states that the presentation will be divided into four parts: an overview, study results, current and proposed processes, and recommendations/conclusions. It provides background on Tawam Hospital and defines waiting time. It discusses implementation of a Health Information System (HIS) and benefits, as well as research aims, methodology involving questionnaires, and results showing specialists are satisfied with HIS but it is not the main cause of delays. Results of patient questionnaires show waiting times at various stages with most waiting over 60 minutes for required service.
This document discusses why several images were chosen to represent experiences during the Holocaust. A diary provided insight into a girl's feelings. A photo depicted many dead bodies to illustrate the horror. A doll symbolized children still wanting childhood amid suffering. The uniform showed how camps aimed to dehumanize by making everyone the same. Overall, the images capture different cases and experiences to perfectly depict the horror of what happened.

The document discusses technology strategy and leadership in small companies. It notes that small companies typically rely on specialists, vendors, or IT managers to set tactics but not long-term strategy. This can lead to a focus on tactics over strategy, conflicts of interest, or maintaining the status quo. The document then introduces the idea of a virtual or fractional CIO, where a small company can pay for strategic technology guidance without a full-time CIO, gaining experience across different industries.
This document provides instructions for drawing a one-point perspective hallway using a pencil, ruler, eraser, and paper. It begins with a review of key perspective drawing terms like horizon line, eye level, and vanishing point. Students are then guided through drawing the hallway, including vertical, horizontal, and diagonal lines that recede to the vanishing point. Additional optional elements like doors, windows, posters, and characters are suggested to add detail to the completed hallway drawing. The document was created by Norma Nickel to teach one-point perspective techniques.
This document provides a summary of resources for integrating technology into the classroom, including websites with lesson plans, projects, and tips for using technology effectively. Some of the highlighted resources include Edutopia for technology integration strategies, Best Practices of Technology Integration for K-12 lessons, and Planning Lessons that Use Technology for assessing resources and expanding comfort with technology. The document also lists collaborative projects, tips for the one-computer classroom, and resources on technology standards, laptop programs, and 21st century skills.
This document discusses the results of a reading assessment for a student. It evaluates the student's performance in various reading skills including vocabulary, background knowledge, reading strategies, comprehension, fluency, decoding and sight words. The student showed age-appropriate skills in areas like phonological awareness and print concepts based on observations. Test results showed word reading and comprehension levels between first and second grade.
The document discusses violence and abuse against women. It defines domestic violence, dating violence, and other types of violence women face. Statistics are provided that nearly 5 million women experience physical assaults from intimate partners each year. Less than 20% of abused women seek medical treatment. Signs of abusive and unhealthy relationships are outlined, along with signs of healthy relationships. Quotes at the end emphasize that violence against women is a major human rights issue.
This document provides instructions for drawing a one-point perspective hallway using a pencil, ruler, eraser, and paper. It reviews key perspective drawing terms like horizon line, eye level, and vanishing point. It demonstrates how to draw vertical, horizontal, and diagonal lines converging at a single vanishing point to create the illusion of depth receding into the distance. Examples are given of additional details that could be added like garbage cans, windows, posters, people, and signage to finish the drawing.
Women are often underrepresented or misrepresented in traditional media. They are more likely to be featured in stories about accidents or domestic violence rather than their professional abilities. When featured as athletes, they are often portrayed in hyper-sexualized ways. For political leaders like Hillary Clinton and Cristina Kirchner, their appearance and clothing receive disproportionate attention. However, social media allows women leaders to directly interact with citizens and represent themselves, transforming their public image. It provides a more positive way for women to gain visibility as leaders.

PhD on Track Presentasjon for NFF, Trondheim 3. november 2014
1. Praktisk bruk av
PhD on Track
i kurssamanhang
Gunhild Austrheim
NFF Trondheim 3. november 2014
2. Agenda
• Våren 2014 har PhD on Track vore grunnlag for ei
kursrekkje ved Odontologisk fakultet ved UiO. I
etterkant av kursa gjennomførte ein
fokusgruppeintervju med nokre av deltakarane.
Føredraget løftar fram funn og erfaringar frå
denne kursrekkja. Erfaringar frå andre er
verdifullt, samstundes er det utfordrande å
utvikla eigne kurs. Ved Høgskolen i Bergen er ein
no i utviklingsfasen av eige kurstilbod til ph.d.-
kandidatane og eg vil vise korleis PhD on Track
brukes i planlegginga.
5. Restmidler

13. PhD-kurs frå biblioteket
”Attention to conveying information to
reserchers during training session rather than
to construct learning experiences…”
Streatfield, Allen & Wilson (2010)
”Bibliotekene bør vurdere hvordan kurs og
veiledningstilbud kan styrke arbeids- og
læringsfellesskap for kandidatene. ”
Gullbekk, E., Rullestad, T., & Torras i Calvo, M.-C. (2012)
14. Kursskisser
• Søking
• Referansehandtering
• Cristin og tellekantsystemet
• Forskaren som forfattar
• Rettleiing eller undervisning???
15.
16. “I would like to see some practical examples of search strategies
carried out.
If you can follow the search strategies, you can apply your own
strategy according to the strategy that you can see as an
example. That would be really helpful. And it should be a real
strategy, not a hypothetical example but an example that is
complex. “
phd-kandidat, s.79
Gullbekk, E., Rullestad, T., & Torras i Calvo, M.-C. (2012). Ph.d.-kandidater og forskningsprosessen. Bibliotekets bidrag. Oslo:
Universitetsbiblioteket i Oslo.
deltar i tverrfaglige forskingsprosjekt. Litteratursøking som del av forskningsmetoden
krever at en følger protokoll for utføringen av kunnskapsoppsummeringer, for
eksempel fra Campbell Collaboration eller EPPI-centre. Utvikle og gjennomføre et godt
utarbeidet søk i flere søkekilder.
Forkunnskaper: PhD on Track Systematic searching
• Dokumentere søk i hht protokoll
referansestil.
