Shared Responsibility for the ILS: How Does That Work?Colby Riggs
The presenter will describe a relatively uncommon strategy for managing the ILS. The University of California Irvine Libraries have implemented a management approach for the ILS which decentralizes control and distributes the responsibilities for modules into their respective functional areas. The presentation will include: Prior organizational configurations and the rationale for change; benefits and improvements in service; group structure including the background and skills of its members; allocation of responsibilities and functions within the group; tools and methodologies used by the group, including a work-ticket system, documentation practices and project management techniques; a critical assessment of efforts to-date; and future refinements.

I took this picture after a long day at the beach from the balcony of our hotel. The wall on the left side of the photograph and the projecting line of the balcony frames and outlines the bottom of the picture. The balcony actually gives off the idea of pointing or gesturing out towards the ocean, where we are instantly drawn soon thereafter to the reflection in the water. The rule of thirds breaks the photo into three columns, showing that the main points or ideas are at the points of intersection in these hypothetical columns. At the points, would be the reflection of the water and the white towel dangling over the balcony, in addition to the water.
This picture was taken from the balcony on the other side of our hotel room leading out to the main hallway. I enjoyed this picture because I feel as though the houses and objects in this picture are pulling the audience’s eyes in all different directions and you’re not really sure as to what to look at first. In regard to the rule of thirds, there is a house, palm tree, or parking space line at just about every point of intersection. In regard to the framing in this photo, I believe that the upper level of the parking lo and the three houses in the foreground are framing the basketball court.
This particular picture was also taken from the balcony of our hotel room. I like how the foliage at the bottom leads the eye to the beachcombers and umbrellas, which parallels the incoming tide, leading us finally to the picturesque reflection on the water and the continuous horizon. The rule of thirds breaks up the picture into columns that provide intersections on the reflections in addition to the foliage. I remember that this day was beautiful and perfect, and although this picture may appear somewhat cliché, I did want a picture that captured how wonderful this day was and how perfect the weather felt.
