2. Hi! I'm Catherine
Bare
Motivated artist and educator with a passion for bringing the
visual arts from conception to reality both personally and in the
classroom.
My personal portfolio ranges in the same way my classroom is
run. Voice being the forefront of all art making. Whether
through my commissioned works or personal creations I strive
for a unique approach to voice. I scoff at the age old phrase
"Those that can't do...teach." Why can't classroom examples be
held to the same standard as what society considers 'Fine Art'
My work is inspired by the research I do for lesson plans.
Whether it is figure studies focusing on social emotional learning
or portraits drawn on ceramic as practice. There is no set concept
to my portfolio as a whole but a reflection of personal voice.

17. Part of a school wide beautification project was the Crossland Mural project. With a
group of students I organized paint donations and created a beautiful diversity mural
representing the many styles and wonderful differences of our school environment
While working at Crossland High School the students spoke up and out about need for
more visual representation of our school culture in the halls. I worked with a group 9-
12th graders to create a large hallway long mural representing the diverse community,
defense of equality, and the strength in unity. This was a student run project from
design to conception (Though they did let me paint with them).
When all was done students asked to decorate the door around my classroom as seen to
the right.
