Michael Erin enjoys reading books by his favorite author Pat Conroy in his free time. Pat Conroy has published numerous Southern fiction books over 45 years, including The Boo and his most recent memoir The Death of Santini. Two of Conroy's most successful works, The Great Santini and The Prince of Tides, were adapted into Oscar-nominated and successful films. Conroy has received multiple literary awards throughout his career, including a 2010 lifetime achievement award from South Carolina and a 2005 award for outstanding achievement in American literature.

For more than 45 years, Pat Conroy has published a
number of books in the Southern tradition, including his first
novel, The Boo, and The Death of Santini, his most recent
memoir. The latter offers the author’s reflection on one of
his previous works, The Great Santini, which director Lewis
John Carlino converted into an Oscar-nominated motion
picture in 1979, starring Robert Duvall. In addition, the plot
of his most successful work, The Prince of Tides, was
adapted for film in 1991 under the direction of Barbara
Streisand.

3.  Pat Conroy has garnered multiple literary
awards throughout his career, including the
2010 Elizabeth O’Neill Verner Governor’s
Award for the Arts for Lifetime Achievement
in South Carolina. He also won the F. Scott
Fitzgerald Award for Outstanding
Achievement in American Literature in
