Watkins Glen State Park is located in Watkins Glen, New York and features a 400 foot deep gorge that was formed by a stream cutting through sedimentary rock left behind by glaciers during the Ice Age. The park did not exist 12,000 years ago but was established around 10,000 years ago after the first ice age, and features shallow ponds and varying plant life due to differences in sunlight and moisture along the gorge.
