The author had previously considered doing a research project on computer software because their father is a computer engineer and they find computers fascinating. However, after a teacher introduced artificial intelligence and explained how it related to the author's interest in software, the author decided to study AI instead. The author finds AI interesting because it was new to them, relates to an existing interest in software, and the teacher's explanation made it sound appealing and like a good topic for discussion and debate.

1. My Choice
Before I chose my topic of Artificial Intelligence (AI), I had thought of one
other topic that I found interesting. This topic was the process of building/writing
computer software. Iactually thought of doing a research project on this topic for
the past three years. It just seems like every time I get the chance to I just
happen to find something more interesting to study and research. The reason I
have wanted to do a research project on this topic so much is because my father is
a computer engineer and I have always thought that the computer is just an
extremely fascinating piece of technology. I think of it this way because it is often
used by many people on the earth yet not many people take the time to think about
how this amazing machine even works.
The reason as to why I finally chose to study the topic of Artificial
Intelligence over the writing and building of computer software is actually because
I was convinced by the intelligent words of a teacher. This particular teacher
introduced the topic of AI to me when I told her that I have interest in computer
software. She thought that this would also come to my interest and it actually did.
Before this was introduced to me by this teacher, I actually never heard of it. But
luckily after a brief explanation from her I was able to understand a bit about the
topic.

2. There happen to be a few reasons as to why I find this topic of AI
interesting. My top reason is probably because I have never heard of it before.
The fact that it is more new to me makes me have greater interest in it. One other
thing is that it is in some ways similar to computer software which I already have
interest in. Also, the way the teacher explained the topic to me made it sound so
interesting that I felt like I had no choice. It is also good because it is a great
discussion starter and it would be a good topic for a debate.
