This document provides a comparative study of the Pariyatti courses, or methods of teaching Buddhist scriptures, used in Mandalay and Pakokku, Myanmar. It describes the key characteristics and differences between the Mandalay Method and Pakokku Method. The Mandalay Method emphasizes thorough explanations of grammar, Abhidhamma, and commentaries. It can take a long time to complete the courses. The Pakokku Method aims to complete the courses in the shortest time possible with less focus on grammar. It utilizes commentaries to help students understand texts more quickly. While both methods have benefits, most students integrate aspects of both for the most effective learning.
