This document discusses two potential strategies for libertarians: (1) appealing to upper-middle class suburbanites to gain influence with political elites, which has been unsuccessful and risks co-opting the movement, and (2) forming an independent libertarian movement focused on philosophical debate and social activities rather than political alliances, as was done in the 1970s with the Libertarian Party. However, the document argues neither strategy is likely to achieve significant gains for libertarian principles and both come with significant downsides.
