As AIB College of Business closes, its approximately 750 students must decide where to transfer. Originally, the University of Iowa planned to turn AIB into a UI campus, but the Higher Learning Commission warned this could jeopardize accreditation. Now, AIB students can transfer to UI but will be held to the same admissions standards as other transfers. Many AIB students are exploring other transfer options in Des Moines so they can remain local or continue their athletic careers, as about a third of AIB students were athletes. Schools like Grand View, Simpson College, and Johnson & Wales are actively recruiting AIB students and offering scholarships to make transferring easier.
