Alt. 4 Summit, Sept. 7 2018: Ken BalcombKelly Iriye
The document discusses Southern Resident killer whales and their dependence on Chinook salmon. It notes that the three pods (J, K, and L pods) spent 118 days in their core summer habitat in 2017. It also discusses declining Chinook salmon runs on the West Coast and notes that recovery requires effort from Canada, California, and ourselves. Charts show the number of whales from each pod present in the core summer habitat from May to September 2017, with many days having only small groups of whales. The document argues that while the Salish Sea needs recovery, the whales urgently need significant numbers of Chinook salmon to survive, which is why recovery of the Snake River is advocated.

The COSCO BUSAN container ship spilled 58,000 gallons of oil into the San Francisco Bay in November 2007, spreading the oil along the Northern California coast and closing over 50 public beaches. An estimated 800 birds were found dead and over 1000 collected, with 420 rehabilitated and released, and fishing was restricted due to environmental impacts. Officials took steps to contain the spill by quarantining beaches and placing nets in the water while volunteers helped with cleanup and rescue efforts. However, the ship's pilot pleaded not guilty to pollution charges regarding responsibility for the spill.

Asthma 2010 new gina guidelines[pediatric]Pradeep Gc
This document provides information on asthma management guidelines and tools. It discusses the goals of asthma management, which include achieving control of symptoms, maintaining normal activity levels, pulmonary function, and preventing exacerbations and mortality. It outlines a six-part asthma management program involving education, assessment, avoiding triggers, medication plans, managing exacerbations, and follow-up care. Classification systems for severity are presented for children and adults. Peak flow meters, spirometry, inhaler devices, and stepwise treatment approaches are also summarized.
The document discusses coagulation, the process by which blood clots. More than 30 cells and substances affect clotting, which is initiated by platelets and involves a complex series of reactions converting fibrinogen into fibrin to form a clot. Thrombosis occurs when a blood clot forms inside a blood vessel or heart, partially or completely blocking blood flow. Causes of clotting include the blood composition, vessel wall injuries, and blood flow issues. Clots are classified as venous, such as deep vein thrombosis, or arterial, like those causing strokes and myocardial infarctions when coronary arteries suddenly clog.

Pacific halibut are fished off the coast of Alaska using long lines with thousands of baited hooks. These flatfish can live up to 55 years and grow very large. The fishery is managed by quotas and regulations to minimize bycatch of seabirds, sea turtles, and sharks. While long lining has less impact than other methods, regulations were implemented to extend the fishing season and reduce fisherman deaths. Pacific halibut remain sustainably fished and support an important market in the US and Canada.
Pacific halibut are fished off the coast of Alaska using long lines with thousands of baited hooks. The fishery is managed by the International Pacific Halibut Commission to ensure sustainability. Halibut can live over 50 years and grow very large, up to 500 pounds. While long lining has less bycatch than other methods, it still poses a risk to seabirds, sea turtles and sharks that can get caught on hooks. Regulations have been implemented to reduce bycatch and overfishing, such as catch limits and closed seasons.

Fishing is a popular activity in Rocky Mountain National Park, where sport fishing is permitted to balance recreation and conservation efforts. The park works to restore native cutthroat trout populations and currently several trout species exist in park waters. A valid Colorado fishing license is required, and regulations include limits on possession, use of barbless hooks in catch and release areas, and a ban on lead tackle. Disinfection protocols help control the spread of aquatic threats between waters.

While the upper river contains brook and wild rainbow trout, the lower river has stocked trout as well as other fish. To have a successful fishing experience, anglers should be prepared for hatches of mayflies, stoneflies, caddisflies and know how to fish with nymphs and larvae imitations throughout the different seasons. Larger inflatable rafts are recommended for floating the river safely due to fluctuating water levels.
