Otis Boykin was an inventor born in Dallas, Texas who studied at Frisk University and worked at a delivery business as a child. He is most famous for inventing pacemakers to help people with heart problems and also improved inventions like missiles, radios and TVs. Boykin passed away in 1982 from heart failure, despite inventing pacemakers, as his specific heart issue was different than what the pacemakers addressed.
