Hadj Ounis's most notable work is his sculpture titled "Metamorphosis." This piece showcases Ounis's mastery of form and texture, as he seamlessly combines metal and wood to create a dynamic and visually striking composition. The juxtaposition of the two materials creates a sense of tension and harmony, inviting viewers to contemplate the relationship between nature and industry.

Can we start?
Good morning everyone, I´m happy to be here.
Today I´m going to talk about David Catrow.
I‘d like to start by introducing myself. My name is Yolanda Ortiz Ros. I am a student at the Murcia School of Arts where I´m studying illustration.
I have chosen to speak about David Catrow because he is a referent on children´s book illustration.
What I would like to do today is to give a general overview of why the of David’s illustrations are special.
I have divided my presentation into three parts
1. Overview
2. Approach and Style
3. Works
In the first part I´ll give a basic overview of the author.
In the next part I am going to show an overview of David’s creative process.
And in the last place I would like to show their works and career.
I will not speak about his personal life.
I will talk for about 5 minutes.
You may interrupt me at any moment to ask questions or make comments.
Well, let’s start with the first part of my presentation that deals with a general presentation of this illustrator
This is David Catrow.
He is primarily a writer and a children book illustrator; he has over seventy published printed works, but I´ll talk about his works later.
David Catrow was born an artist. From the moment he was able to resist eating the crayon in his hand, he’s been drawing.
Today he’s a cartoonist, an illustrator and a painter with a constant need to explore the potential of his ideas, playing with them in his head and on the canvas.
David is a self-taught artist. He’s learned about a whole range of creative media by trial and error.
Did you know that David Catrow's favourite subject in school was math?
Why? Well, Mr. Hirsch's class was where Catrow did some of his best drawings!
He studied pre-med and wanted to be a doctor, but art was his true path and it has consumed him.
And this all I want to say about David Catrow’s fact file. Now let’s move onto the second part of my presentation that deals with an approach to his style.
Anything David creates begins with a ‘what if?’
After playing with ideas and concepts in his head, he picks up his pencil or brush and gives them life.
I'm sure none of you know that David’s creative muse is a gnarly, comical, evil, painted mask he found in Mexico.
It hangs in an honoured place on his studio wall.
He uses combinations of coloured pencil and watercolour. His style is very personal, he draws in his own natural way. His aim is to capture the feeling, and let the viewer experience it.
As a book illustrator, his role is to convey the story, setting, characters and their interactions. But he also aims to find something that’s not there in the words.
The images themselves are notable for their expressiveness, colour, depth and detail.
Having talked about David Catrow’s style, let’s move onto the final part of our presentation that deals with his works and career.
As I said at the beginning he has over seventy published works.
His scholastic book series MAX SPANIEL to name one example, has sold over a million copies.
He got several NYT best sellers and two NYT Best Illustrated Books.
This illustrations for the book ”She's Wearing a Dead Bird on Her Head!” was one of the New York Times "Best Illustrated Books Of the Year” in nineteen ninety-five.
In addition to his publishing work he has worked extensively in films and TV. He has created the visual development for films such as HORTON HEARS A WHO, DESPICABLE ME, and others.
He has also done developmental work adapting the animated Stuart Little for television and extensive developmental work on the animated television series PLANTZILLA.
To end up you can see I show a David Catrow’s Funny Lunch Book Trailer.
As I´ve tried to explain this morning this is why David’s illustrations are special.
In conclusion I would like to say that he is a great illustrator and his illustrations are fantastic because they are the result of many hours of drawing and hard work.
My first proposal is to follow his example.
If there are any questions please feel free to ask.
Thank you very much for your attention.
