Guru Nanak saw beyond the Hindu concept of a continuous cycle of creation, sustenance, and destruction by the gods Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva. He acknowledged the three qualities of creation, but taught that there is something higher - the One essence that created all. Guru Nanak lifted people out of the religious cycle by bringing a message of oneness and a direct link to the One true source, removing the need to worship any other beings besides the One.
