Lorton, Virginia is a town located south of Washington D.C. that has a long history dating back to George Mason and the Gunston Hall Plantation. While the neighborhoods are spread out and there are not many local jobs, Lorton has good transportation access via VRE and Amtrak trains as well as buses. It offers amenities like shopping centers, parks, an arts center, and recreational areas like Pirates Cove Waterpark and community pools. However, some view the lack of walkability and concentration of jobs as drawbacks under a new urbanism model.
