Journeying through the wilderness has been a dream of most since their childhood. From school-life excursions to dates to botanical gardens, the wilderness vividly has captured us in its manifold charms. But traveling to the forests to witness the exotic flora and fauna may only be ideal with knowing which places offer what. Here are given some of the most lucrative wildlife packages, with suggestions as to where tourists can get the most for their buck.
Nature tourism – responsible travel to natural areas, which conserves the environment and improves the welfare of local people.
It is tourism based on the natural attractions of an area. Examples include birdwatching, photography, stargazing, camping, hiking, hunting, fishing, and visiting parks. These experiential tourists are interested in a diversity of natural and cultural resources. They want what is real, and they want to be immersed in a rich natural, cultural, or historical experience.
Couple camping, one of the many activities that can be enjoyed as a nature tourist.
From the standpoint of conservation, nature-based tourism provides incentives for local communities and landowners to conserve wildlife habitats upon which the industry depends – it promotes conservation by placing an increased value on remaining natural areas. As nature tourism becomes more important to the local economy, communities have additional incentive to conserve their remaining natural areas for wildlife and wildlife enthusiasts.
The nature-based tourism efforts in Texas will continue to focus on achieving habitat conservation by providing information and assistance to private landowners, communities, businesses, and local community leaders wishing to make nature-based tourism an integral part of their business and community. By empowering people at the local level, we hope to build and provide guidance to a growing industry that holds great promise for sustainable economic development and conservation of wildlife habitat.

Northland's rocky shores stretch along 3,200 km of coastline from Cape Reinga to Mangawhai and Kaipara Harbour. Rocky shores are formed by volcanic activity and erosion from wind, water and waves. They provide habitat for many intertidal plants and creatures and are important areas for birds such as gulls, shags and oystercatchers. Rocky shores are also culturally significant places for Māori as sources of traditional food and identity. Threats to these fragile ecosystems include human disturbance, pollution and habitat loss. Protecting Northland's rocky shores involves careful exploration, leaving things undisturbed, and disposing of rubbish properly.

1. The pelagic thresher shark draws ecotourism to Malapascua Island in the Philippines, where they congregate daily at Monad Shoal for cleaning. This ecotourism proved critical to the rapid recovery of the island community after the devastation of Super Typhoon Haiyan.
2. Though Monad Shoal was declared a marine reserve after the typhoon, illegal fishing still threatens the thresher sharks. Their economic value from ecotourism far exceeds that from fishing, but more protection is needed for the vulnerable species both in the reserve and beyond.
3. Community-driven conservation efforts show promise, as one province has begun protecting all shark species

Dominica is a mountainous island in the Caribbean covered in lush tropical rainforests. It suffers heavy rainfall during the late summer hurricane season. The dry season from January to May is more popular with tourists. The island contains two large rainforest reserves and hot springs. 2. What is the Ogasawara
Archipelago?
The Ogasawara Archipelago is a group of small islands located
1000km south of Tokyo, on the Pacific Ocean.
It was discovered in 1593 by one of the lieges of the royal families
of Japan.
It was recently registered (2011) as a World Heritage Site due to its
unique landform and natural evolution.
4. Attractions at the sea and coast
Whale-watching and dolphin swimming
Snorkeling is also very popular, especially in the
Minamizaki Beach.
White sand beaches like Kopepe Beach, Minamijima
Beach and Sakaiura Beach.
Minamijima
Beach, south of
Chichijima Island.
6. Attractions on land
One can go to the battle grounds form World War II in
Chichijima, specifically, Sakaiura Beach.
Trekking is very popular too, especially in Mount Kofuji,
located in Hahajima and Mount Chuo in Chichijima.
Night tours are also very popular.
There are a lot of organisms which cannot be found on
any other place in the world. (eg. the Bonin White Eyes,
the Meguro, the Bonin Flying Fox etc.)
8. Negative Impacts of Tourism in
Ogasawara Archipelago
Overfishing is a major problem in Ogasawara due
to the popularity of sushi and other Japanese fish
dishes with both foreign and local tourists.
Many footpaths in Mount Chuo have been eroded
due to the ever increasing number of tourists.
The sea turtle population is diminishing since it is a
major source of income for the locals.
9. Positive Impacts of Tourism in the
Ogasawara Archipelago
All natural habitats are protected by UNESCO and
the Japanese government. Logging and felling of
trees, destruction of plants for souvenirs and
camping is illegal.
Tourism has actually saved some animal species.
Recently a the Bonin pigeon conservation
programme was enacted, to protect these
endangered birds.
Due to the Ogasawara Management Committee,
the number of people allowed to come to the
Archipelago was controlled. This has decreased the
number of damaged footpaths and littered beaches.
One cannot stay in Ogasawara for more than 4
10. More Positive Impacts
About 10 years ago, a new law was made in
Ogasawara; no foreign seeds, plant embryo or animal is
allowed in the island. This is to protect the natural
balance of the fragile ecosystem in Ogasawara.
All forests and mountains are off-limits to tourists if they
have no tour guide. This is so that the plants and
animals can be protected from them.
Animals which were known to be endangered before the
tourism boom in Ogasawara are now tracked and
conserved by the authorities. This is to sustain the
tourism industry for the future.
Editor's Notes
Note: the archipelago was NEVER connected to a mainland in the past; that’s why it has organisms you can never find on continents! An archipelago is a group of small islands
Sakaiura Beach was a world war 2 battle site. There is a submerged warship in the coast and it is very popular with snorkelers.
