Karal Clay in the Far North Cameroon: Study on Behavioural Floor StructuresIJERD Editor
The north is known for its scorching heat and swelling clay which in the presence of water,
dramatical increase in water volume and by drying or even to crack [2] [5]. Many authors have addressed the
problems posed by this type of ground vis-à-vis the construction and especially the buildings. What exact type
of transport infrastructure can be built on these soils? It is to answer this question that we focus our research on
Karal clay, the main constituent of soil in the region of Far Northern Cameroon. Over 21,489 km of roads in
Cameroon in charge of the state, nearly 44.5% are in poor condition. The Far North Region of Cameroon is one
with the longest straight road in poor condition. In about 2374 km of road, only 1% is in good condition, 20% in
fair condition and 79 in poor condition [3] [8]. The damage seen on the N-1 Kousséri Maroua road in the region
of the Far North is related to a combination of stresses: it supports the traffic, the weather, the layer thickness
and the quality of materials that constitute it. All these stresses are associated in one way or another with the
clay soil blowing up known for its instability to participate in the degradation of these roads [3] [6] [13]. The
primary mission of this scientific work is to provide necessary information and capital on Karal clay,
mineralogy, and its behaviour with respect to pavement structures in the Sahel. However, laboratory studies on
Karal clay, allowed better assessment of its physical, chemical and mineralogical characteristics. Armed with
these scientific findings it allow us to better understand the Karal clay and its behaviour on the ground in the
Sahel region, we have developed strategies to increase the profitability of road investments on swelling clay
soil. To achieve the expected results, we submitted samples of Karal clay testing of physical-chemicalmineralogical
characterisation laboratory. It is in particular, the determination of the water content and organic
matter, the complete particle size analysis, determination of Atterberg limits, Proctor changed, testing
Californian Bearing Ratio of the oedometer test, the shear test straight to the box Casagrande, and finally the Xray
diffraction
Security and Privacy Consideration for Internet of Things in Smart Home Envir...IJERD Editor
Internet Of Things(IOT) has emerged as a trustworthy technology to improve the quality of life in
smart homes through offering various automated, interactive and comfortable services. Sensors integrated at
different places in homes, offices, and even in clothes, equipment, and utilities are used to sense and monitor
owners’ positions, movements, required signs, valuable usage, temperature and humidity levels of rooms, etc.
Along with sensing and monitoring capabilities, sensors cooperate and communicate with themselves to deliver;
share and process sensed information and help real-time decision making procedures through activate suitable
alerts and actions. However, ensuring privacy and providing enough security in these required services provided
by IOTs is a major issue in smart home environments. In this paper, we examine the privacy and security
challenges of IOTs and survey its possibilities for smart home environments. We discuss the unique
characteristics that differentiate a smart environment from the rest, elaborate on security and privacy issues and
their respective solution measures. A number of challenges and interesting research issues appearing from this
study have been reported for further analysis.
Comparative of Conventional and Intelligence Controller based Hybrid Generati...IJERD Editor
This document summarizes a research paper that proposes and simulates a hybrid power generation system using renewable energy sources like solar and wind along with an active power filter to improve power quality. The system uses a four-leg voltage source inverter with both a conventional DC link controller and a fuzzy logic controller to regulate the DC link voltage and compensate for current harmonics from nonlinear loads. Simulation results using MATLAB/Simulink demonstrate that the proposed control scheme and active power filter configuration can effectively improve power quality by reducing total harmonic distortion.
This summary provides an overview of the key points from a webinar on façade improvement projects:
1) The webinar presented the findings of a 2014 study on the impacts of façade improvement projects in Wisconsin communities. It analyzed 24 case studies of projects ranging from less than $3,000 to over $600,000.
2) The study found that 80% of businesses experienced an increase in first-time customers and 90% saw increased sales of around 20% on average. Several properties were also able to fill vacant spaces after improvements.

The Effect of Structure -Soil Interaction on Eccentrically Loaded FrameIJERD Editor
This document summarizes research analyzing the effect of soil-structure interaction on an eccentrically loaded building frame founded on pile groups. Finite element analysis was used to model a 2x2 pile group foundation and analyze displacements, forces, and other parameters under eccentric loads applied at different locations on the beam. Both analytical finite element modeling and physical experiments were conducted. The results found that soil-structure interaction significantly impacts frame behavior, with design forces in the analytical and experimental models differing by up to 100% from conventional rigid-base assumptions. Accounting for soil-structure interaction allows for more economical frame element design.
Divisible Transferable Anonymous Electronic Cash System for General UseIJERD Editor
In this paper we propose an elegant and unique divisible transferable anonymous electronic cash
system with observer. The proposed divisible e-cash solves most of the crucial problems with existing paper
cash and untraceable e-cash proposals. Electronic cash provides unconditional anonymity to the user. Researchers
observed, however, that if anonymity in payment system is unconditional, it might be exploited to facilitate
crimes like money laundering. This observation spurred research into the idea of making anonymity in payment
systems conditional, and, in particular, revocable by a third party or trustee or observer under bank's order. The
idea of having an observer is that it can be incorporated in the wallet in such a way that no user module can do a
transaction on its own. For any transaction protocol to be executed by the wallet, it needs help (a secret information)
from the observer i.e. the wallet and the observer must confirm mutually when they work together. The
advantage of the proposed electronic cash system is that it is able to construct an observer capable of cooperating
with divisible and transferable e-cash. Due to the presence of observer, the proposed e-cash has prior
resistance of double spending. In each transfer of divisible e-cash, coin authentication and denomination revelation
is checked to verify the validity of divisible e-cash. In any stage of coin transfer, the anonymity is guaranteed
with protection of double spending.
Seasonal Variations in Physico-Chemical Parameter of Groundwater in Bhimavara...IJERD Editor
Physico-chemical analysis of open well water samples was carried out from 10 sampling locations
in Bhimavaram town during three seasons namely summer, rainy and winter of 2012-‟13 are presented. The
quality analysis was made through the estimation of physico-chemical parameters such as pH,
Turbidity, EC, TDS, Cl–, SO4
2–, NO3
–, PO4
3–, D.O, TH, Ca2+, Mg2+, F–, Na+, K+ and BOD. Each parameter was
compared with its standard permissible limit as prescribed by World Health Organization (WHO) and BIS
standard to assess the suitability of drinking and domestic purposes. The analytical results of groundwater
samples shows that that certain parameters namely PH, D.O and Fluoride were found within the desirable limits
by BIS. However, Turbidity, EC, TH, TDS, BOD, Chloride, Sulphate, Phosphate, Nitrate, Sodium, Potassium,
Calcium, were exceding the desirable limit throughout the investigation period in all locations. The results of
analysis reveal that the ground water of the area was not suitable for human consumption and domestic use due
to the influence saltwater intrusion, sewage, Industrial effluents and high urban concentration are the probable
sources for the variation of water quality in the study area
Equilibrium Studies of Malachite Green from Aqueous Solution Using Corn Cob a...IJERD Editor
The objective of this work is the study of adsorption of dye solution which is a dye malachite green
using corn cob. Removal of this dye from aqueous solution using corn cob has been investigated. Liquid phase
adsorption experiments were conducted. Batch adsorption studies are Carried out by observing the effect of
experimental parameters, namely, pH, and amount of adsorbents, contact time and initial concentration.
Optimum conditions for dye removal are studied like pH value, contact time required, amount of adsorbent,
initial concentration, etc. The results generated by this work can be used for determination of optimum
conditions for adsorption of dye in aqueous solutions. Dye is present in mixture form in various Industrial
effluents like Textile Industries, Sewage water, Water treatment plants. This work can have use in Design of
adsorption columns for dyes removal. The Freundlich adsorption model assumes that adsorption takes place on
heterogeneous surfaces. Adsorption increases with increase in pH. The adsorption of cationic dye is mainly
influenced by the amount of negative charges in the solution which is actually influenced by the solution pH. At
pH=2 there is net positive charge in the solution so adsorption is less whereas at pH=12there is increase in
negative charges increasing adsorption of malachite green. Maximum adsorption was found to take place at
pH=12. Adsorption tends to increase with contact time. At first the increase in adsorption is very rapid as there
are lots of free sites for the adsorption to take place. Adsorption decreases at later stages till saturation is reached
due to saturation of active sites. The optimum contact time for equilibrium was found to be 100 min.
