The Adirondack Health Institute (AHI) PPS is transforming healthcare delivery in the Adirondack region through the development of "medical villages". Three hospitals are repurposing unused inpatient facilities to create integrated outpatient centers focusing on behavioral health, mental health, and substance abuse treatment. The University of Vermont Health Network - Champlain Valley Physicians Hospital is establishing a center for seriously ill adults needing behavioral health services. Glens Falls Hospital is creating a crisis stabilization unit for behavioral health emergencies. Inter-Lakes Health is developing a medical village offering primary care, emergency care, long-term care, and other health services on its main campus.
