Chattanooga’s Amazon distribution
center welcomes President Barack Obama
today as he addresses economic growth.
The president chose to speak at the
Amazon plant, located on 7200 Discovery
Drive, due to their recent announcement of
creating seven thousand new jobs.
According to Amazon, five thousand
full-time jobs will involve packaging and
shipping and the other two thousand jobs
will involve customer service.
As part of Obama’s “Better Bargains
for the Middle Class” speech series, he
visited the plant’s fulfillment centers.
The president expressed his feelings
on higher wage jobs to ensure higher
economic growth.

The local Amazon distribution center
employs more than two thousand people
and is the equivalency of 28 football fields.
According to Obama, it is the North Pole of
the South.
