Over 300 wildfires have burned more than half a million acres in Northern California since June 20th due to a severe drought and record high temperatures. More than 20,000 firefighters from 41 states are battling the fires, with some not having a day off since the end of May. The largest fire, the Basin Fire, has burned over 75,000 acres and forced the evacuation of more than 3,500 homes. Despite efforts to contain 1,400 fires, over 200 continue burning unchecked due to the extreme fire conditions.
