From Early Beginnings  It all started in 1889, a man named Fusajiro Yamauchi created a card game called “Nintendo Koppai” also known as “Hanafuda”. “Hanafuda” cards were made out of mulberry tree bark. They were first manufactured and sold in Kyoto, Japan.  “Hanafuda” was instantly popular. It was the most popular game in that region at that time.
