PRESENTATION = CLINICAL RESEARCH 2-2016 v3 12-24-15Cathy Kauffman
This document discusses the importance of case management in clinical research and healthcare. It defines case management as a collaborative process to coordinate comprehensive healthcare services and needs. The document then outlines the key components of case management including assessment, care planning, collaboration, implementation and evaluation. It provides a case study example of a patient, Lucy, who experienced gaps in care coordination resulting in complications. Finally, it describes how effective case management utilizing a multidisciplinary team approach can optimize patient outcomes and minimize issues like duplication, errors and gaps in care.

This document discusses building a partnership between Biosyss and educational institutions to provide training programs in clinical research. It notes that over 500 institutes educate over 1.15 lakh students in biotech annually, but that job opportunities are limited. The training programs aim to increase students' employability in clinical research profiles like R&D, operations, quality, clinical research, finance, and business development. Biosyss and Ziven Consulting will offer certificates in GCP and clinical research to help students enter the industry. Their experienced team will provide quality, affordable training with placement assistance to nurture talent for clinical research careers.

Clinical research involves conducting research studies in human volunteers to answer health questions and find new treatments. It typically involves several phases from preclinical testing in animals to clinical trials in human subjects. India is emerging as a global hub for clinical research due to its large patient pools, low costs, and trained professionals. However, there is a large gap between the growing demand for trained clinical research professionals and current supply. Cliniminds aims to address this need by providing a wide range of clinical research training programs and courses.
Brent James, M.D., M. Stat. Executive Director, Institute for Health Care Delivery Research Intermountain Healthcare Keynote Presentation. Six clinical areas studied over 2 years:
- transurethral prostatectomy (TURP)
- open cholecystectomy
- total hip arthroplasty
- coronary artery bypass graft surgery (CABG)
- permanent pacemaker implantation
- community-acquired pneumonia
pulled all patients treated over a defined time period
across all Intermountain inpatient facilities - typically 1 year
identified and staged (relative to changes in expected utilization)
- severity of presenting primary condition
- all comorbidities on admission
- every complication
- measures of long term outcomes
compared physicians with meaningful # of cases
(low volume physicians included in parallel analysis, as a group)
The document provides an overview of the key elements that should be included in a research proposal. It discusses the purpose of a research proposal is to convince others that the proposed research project is worthwhile and that the investigator has the competence and work plan to complete it. The main elements that should be included in a research proposal are an introduction section outlining the background, problem statement, objectives, literature review, methodology, ethical considerations, time schedule and references.
This document outlines a research proposal that investigates teachers' perceptions of assessing students' oral reading skills in rural primary schools. The study aims to understand teachers' views on reading aloud assessments, and whether their perceptions differ based on years of teaching experience or education level. A mixed methods approach is proposed, using questionnaires to collect quantitative data on 80-120 teachers, and interviews of 12 teachers to obtain qualitative views. The research questions focus on teachers' perceptions of reading assessments, any differences related to experience or qualifications, and factors influencing perceptions. The significance, limitations, and methodology are described in the proposal.

The Global Forest Decimal Classification (GFDC) is an internationally used subject classification system for forestry information resources that was first established in 1903 by IUFRO. The GFDC provides a hierarchical structure of 2752 categories and an alphabetical index of 4579 terms to classify forestry research. While the GFDC was traditionally published as a book, it is now available online through the IUFRO and FPInnovations websites. However, the GFDC's functionality and availability could be improved. IUFRO is proposing publishing the GFDC as linked open data, providing a more user-friendly browsing interface, collaborating with other groups to link forest concepts, and beginning development of a forestry research ontology by linking the GFDC with

The document discusses the Global Forest Domain Classification (GFDC) and its implementation in the Global Forest Information Service (GFIS). It notes that classifications are important for organizing information as they allow for "browsing" and creating ontologies and topic maps. GFDC is a hierarchical, multilingual classification for forest and forestry information that is maintained by IUFRO. The document recommends using GFDC for subject metadata in GFIS and developing browse and search interfaces based on GFDC categories. It also provides technical requirements and possibilities for implementing GFDC in GFIS such as using RSS/RDF formats and the Open Archives Initiative Protocol.
