Ngô Bảo Châu is a Vietnamese mathematician who was born in 1972 in Hanoi, Vietnam. He won gold medals at the International Mathematical Olympiad in high school with a perfect score. He received his PhD from University Paris-Sud in 1997. Ngô is currently a professor at the University of Chicago and is known for his proof of the fundamental lemma, for which he received the Fields Medal in 2010. He has also received several other prestigious awards for his contributions to mathematics.
