 Three leading US based private equity (PE) firm-
Carlyle,Kohlberg Kravis &Roberts(KKR) and Warburg
Pincus are likely to acquire an effective stake of 15-18% in
Hero Honda Motors, as part of a two legged transaction that
could see Japan’s Honda completely exit the country’s
motorcycle company.
 BM Munjal owned Hero group is in advanced discussion
with these three PE firms to sell 60-70% stake in a special
purpose vehicle (SPV) to fund the acquisition of Honda’s
26% shareholding which at current market cap is valued at
around Rs 9300 crore in the joint venture company.
 Coal India’s initial public offering (IPO) drew bids for at
least $58 billion in cash enough to build 25 airport
equivalent to the sparkling New Delhi one indicating
investors eagerness to buy if shares are priced reasonably.
 Coal India joins the league of top state run companies on
the planet such as China Agriculture Bank that sold $22
billion worth of shares and Brazil’s petrobas that raised $70
billion.
 The likely pricing of shares at the top end of the Rs225-245
band will make it the biggest listed coal producer in the
world
 Europe’s largest bank in deposits BNP Paribas has set
up a 10 member India Advisory Board which will help
the bank in the fine tuning its India strategy and also
advice the bank on corporate social responsibility
efforts.
 The members of the India Advisory Committee
includes former RBI deputy governor Rakesh Mohan ,
Tata steel director JJ Irani and C Achythan , chairman
of sebi’s takeover code committee.
 Corporation Bank has posted 20% rise in net profit in
the second quarter of this fiscal year.
 The main drivers of profit growth have been net
interest, margin and healthy credit growth.
 The net profit stood at Rs 352 crore.
 Allahabad bank has reported a 21% rise in its net profit
at Rs 403 crore over Rs 334 crore in the corresponding
period last year.
 HDFC, the largest home loan provider reported 22%
rise in net profit.
 The rise in profits is on account of increase in spread
the difference between the cost of funds and yeild on
advances.
 Kotak Mahindra bank posted a 55% rise in net profit .
 Yes bank has reported a 57.1% increase in the net profit
for the second quarter.
