JELLY BELLY TO HOST TOUR OF NEW PLANT IN SUGARVILLE
SUGARVILLE, Iowa – Jelly Belly will host a tour of its new factory in Sugarville on
Oct. 11.
The $15 million facility will include five production machine lines, computerized
packaging and shipping facilities. The new state-of-the-art technology will also allow the
company to make jelly beans 50 times faster than ever before. In addition, the facility
will employ 225 people.
On the tour, participants will get to see just how the candy is made.
“Imagine. All those colorful beans just pouring down the production line,” said
Jelly Belly President Cara Maul.
There will also be a jelly bean museum, showing the history of the jelly bean.
Jelly Belly has multiple facilities and manufactures 500 million jelly beans a year.
In 1976, the first eight Jelly Belly flavors were born: very cherry, cream soda, lemon,
tangerine, green apple, root beer, grape and licorice.
“Funny enough, they are still some of the most popular flavors we make today,”
said Rai Sonnette, marketing manager in Jelly Belly.
People must make a reservation before attending this event by calling 1-800-333-
4444.
