2. WIND POWER PLANTS GETTING COMMON IN BELEN Bakras Energy Project Coordinator Mete Naci Kılınçkale said that Belen is very suitable in terms of wind energy and they are trying to evaluate this. The facility has cost about 40 million TL and it will remain in operation for 49 years, to produce electricity for Turkey .

4. STAR GIRLS SOCCER CITY CHAMPIONSHIP Antakya Bedi Sabuncu Primary School Soccer Team, The Stars, won the championship trophy in HATAY. Physical education teacher, Mustafa Tercan Cetiner, stated that they owe their success to hard working and they will represent Hatay in the competition in Kahramanmaraş in May 5th-6th.

6. A NEW PROJECT In a project conducted by Mustafa Kemal University, the avocado,which is a vitamin E and vitamin C rich tropical fruit ,is intended to increase its production. Their project is approved by the SPO ( State Project Organization ) and the support they have received is 250 thousand TL. Avocado fruit consumption in Turkey is extremely low and they are working in the region to make it an alternative product .

FOR TURTLES FIRST AID AND TREATMENT CENTER First aid and treatment center for sea turtles is reported to be installed in Samandağ.The beaches of Samandağ is one of the places where the sea turtles live..We are required to show sensivity for their natural environment. However, the turtles, injured unconsciously and brought to the MKÜ Veterinary Faculty,have difficulty to get better. To solve this problem and treat them in the appropriate place 'Sea Turtle First Aid and Treatment Center is planning to be established. The first center İn Turkey is in Dalyan/Mugla in Turkey .And this is the second in Hatay . With contributions from civil society organizations, and most recently a strong infrastructure will be established in the center.

17. 14TH PHILOSOPHY OLYMPICS The 14th Philosophy olympics ,organized by the Philosophical Society of Turkey ,was performed in the town of Samandağ in Hatay. Samandağ Governor Tahsin Kurtbeyoğlu ,distributed the Thanks documents sent by Philosophical Society of Turkey to the students and wished them success.

21. The "Traditional Tastes Festival“,which is held in different cities every year with the initiative of Anatolian Folk Cuisine Association,will be held in Hatay . The neighbouring provinces Kahraman Maras, Aleppo, and Osmaniye will also attend to the festival with the theme of "Table for Tolerance" between 14-17 May 2010 .. The traditional dishes of the region which have been forgotten will be presented with special cooking techniques and special cooking tools. The dishes offered will be special dishes which can be tasted nowhere. Trips will be organised for the participants and guests so they can know the region ..
