Herbert Hoover was the US president from 1929 to 1933. Franklin D. Roosevelt defeated Hoover in the 1932 presidential election. Roosevelt established several New Deal programs like the National Recovery Administration, Agricultural Adjustment Act, Tennessee Valley Authority, and Works Progress Administration to help the US economy recover from the Great Depression.
