Netting Example in D01 client 110 October 10 th 2006 Prepared by Ludmila Monin
Introduction BOM and Route Netting is a custom transaction developed as part of SAP 4.7 implementation at Electro-Motive Diesel (EMD). Netting is an automation of multiple procedural steps performed consistently to achieve the goal – generate a custom Bill of Materials and production routings in order to build and cost a unique locomotive designed for a specific sales order. ZNET is the netting transaction. It supports user interface, performs netting functions, maintains custom materials, BOMs and routings.
Business Process Create an inquiry, followed by a sales order. Use Variant Configurator to select required assemblies. Generate an Order BOM based on the selected options. Maintain basic BOMs and routings. This includes PLI and EDL assemblies and routings. Execute ZNET transaction to net planned BOMs – one station at a time. Verify netted planned BOMs. Execute ZNET transaction to generate final netted BOMs. Execute ZNET transaction to generate production routings based on final netted BOMs.
Sales order S068880 for locomotive model 92140
Order BOM configured and generated for: order S068880 line item 10 in delivering plant 1001 (usage 3).
ZNET transaction initial entry screen.
Typical locomotive netting screen. Majority of stations on this order have already been final netted and routed. Station 24 has been netted in memory: i.e. no new materials saved, no BOMs saved.
BOM netting process log, every netting step is logged.
Netting detailed trace helps in determining any issues in case of error result.
Material Master maintenance log for Station 24.
Illustrates the ability to create and re-create Planned BOMs.
When Production BOMs (Final) are created – the Planned BOMs (if any) are deleted.
Routing netting process log, every netting step is logged. There are two indicators in the left portion of the screen: (N) Netting and (C) Creating. In this example, routing was netted in memory only.
Illustrates error handling while attempting to create netting routing.
PLI and EDL list from the Order BOM for Station 1.
PLI and EDL detail BOMs for Station 1.
Netted BOM detail for Station 1.
ZCA51 transaction executed for Station 1 production routing.
