The author views their relationship with NCOs as a partnership, where they work together to plan and solve problems to better the platoon and complete the mission. Specifically, the author sees themself and the NCO having a parent-child type relationship with soldiers, collaborating on solutions while maintaining trust and open communication. They also view the NCO as their "right hand man" - together forming an unstoppable team where the author plans with the NCO's guidance, and the NCO ensures mission success with the author's support.

How do I see the role of the NCO?
Everyone knows NCO’s are the backbone of the Army. NCO’s share an
important role in the military because they enforce the standards. NCO’s follow
orders of the President and the officers appointed over them according to
regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. Their job is to accomplish the
mission, enforce the standards, and take care of Soldiers.
How do I see the role of the NCO in my platoon/unit?
I feel the NCO and I would have a parent type of relationship with the
soldiers. Just like any type of parental relationship we would have to work together
to come up with a plan and solution on how to better care for the platoon while still
accomplishing the mission. In any type of mother/father relationship they both have
input on how to raise their child correctly (that’s if both parties are involved of
course). You font just ask one for permission without the other parent knowing or
having input because that breaks the trust and lines of communication between the
two. We will both work together to make the platoon better and still accomplish the
mission. I will make the plan with his/her guidance and he/she will ensure the
platoon executes with my support.
How do I see my relationship with the NCO?
As stated above I see my relationship with my platoon sergeant as my right
hand man. Together we will be an outstanding and unstoppable team that
accomplishes our unit mission while still caring for our Soldiers. I will plan and
coordinate with the guidance from the platoon sergeant and he will ensure the
mission gets accomplished with my support. No one can be great alone. Everyone
needs a hand in order to get to the top.
