Scientists have discovered a new species of giant salamander that can grow up over 6 feet long in the forests of Central China. Known as Andrias davidianus, this enormous amphibian is nocturnal and preys mostly on small animals, fish, and frogs. It faces threats from habitat loss and overharvesting for food, so conservation efforts are needed to protect the remaining wild populations.
