PROFILE
My super power is that I can make the complex simple and use
this to align an organization around the target.
I understand the entire stack of technologies. You will find my
fingerprints all over the projects that I have lead. I have
managed teams of 60+ software engineers using a variety of
Agile Methodologies (SCRUM/Kanban) and Continuous
Integration.
I have a knack for building simple elegant customer experiences
because I think customer first. I understand that content is king,
but I specialize in putting the content in the biggest possible
spotlight that technology can create.
My career has been 50/50 between startups and large
companies.
EXPERI ENCE
HEAD OF TECHNOLOGY, INTIGRAL
Dubai, UAE ▪ 2013 – Present
Intigral is a Digital Media Start-Up based in Dubai. It was founded
in 2009. Its remit is to develop a series of compelling content
services that can be licensed to Telco's to be used as an
exclusive point of differentiation in their market.
I am responsible for all Software Development and Operations
at INTIGRAL. In this role I manage a technology budget of
$10M+. I have a team of 60+ people which includes UI/UX
Designers, Project Managers, Solution
Architects, System Integrators, Developers and Technical
Operations staff.
My main accomplishment is the creation of a B2B Multi-
tenanted Pay-Tv Platform. We are currently offering this as a
turn-key Pay-Tv solution to Telco's and FTA broadcasters. This
platform was constructed using best of breed SAAS Platforms
and we have integrated this with our own customer experience
(UI/UX) and a suite of STB devices.
My team also develop the exclusive way to watch Saudi Premier
League Online (www.dawriplus.com).
Resume: Nathan Taylor 2|P a g e
GM Media Software Solutions at Telstra
Sydney, Australia â–Ş 2011 to 2013
In this role I managed a team of 40 people. They were a mix of Software Developers (Java, IOS, Android and
Web), System Integrators, Solution Architects and UI/UX Designers. The team was distributed over three sites. I
was responsible for a technology budget of $15M+. My team developed a number of products including:
A re-usable SAAS Multi-tenanted Pay-Tv Video Platform (built around the Ooyala Platform)
A “Netflix like” SVOD Service for FOXTEL called Presto (www.presto.com.au)
A Sports website and Live Streaming App for AFL (www.afl.com.au)
A Sports website and Live Streaming App for NRL (www.nrl.com.au)
Chief Architect T-Box at Telstra
Sydney, Australia â–Ş 2009 to 2011
I was the Chief Architect of the T-Box product (https://www.telstra.com.au/entertainment/tbox). In this role I
directly managed a team of 8 Solution Architects and System Integrators. The T-Box is a Hybrid (DTH + OTT) PVR
STB platform. We developed this product in 12 months. The key features of the product included:
Self-install product that delivered video over broadband + in-home Wi-Fi or Ethernet
Intuitive user interface that effectively promoted content (sold over 400k PPV movies/month)
Provided a metadata rich EPG that offered imagery and advanced PVR functions like Series Link
PPV Movies and 10 free Telstra produced TV Channels
After launch we added a Pay-Tv Service called "FOXTEL on T-Box" to the platform. This service was 30 of the best
FOXTEL channels delivered to the end customer using Adaptive Streaming. This FOXTEL package was aimed at
the "Pay-Lite" ($15->$35 ARPU) segment of the market. This strategy has been hugely successful. There are now
over 800k T-Box devices in market.
Various Software Development Leadership Roles at Dilithium Networks
San Francisco Bay Area, USA ▪ 2001 – 2009
I finished University in late 2001 and immediately joined a Mobile Video Startup company called Dilithium
Networks as employee number 5. Its competitive edge was that it had patent protected software technology
that could convert video in one format (e.g. H.263) into another video format (e.g. H.264) 10x more efficiently
than traditional methods. I was part of the Systems Engineering team that created ideas of how to use this
technology and built these systems.
Our initial aim was to develop a POC system to showcase the power of this technology to potential technology
partners. After showcasing this POC to the Vodafone group we decided to build this into our own commercial
system.
Between 2001->2009 I graduated through a number of Software Development leadership roles. During this
period of time Dilithium Networks grew to a peak of 240 employees. The highlights of my roles during this period
of time included:
Leading the development of two products that we sold to over 20 major customers including Tier 1
Telco’s (e.g. Vodafone, Orange etc) and leading Internet companies (e.g. Yahoo)
Managed a team of 20+ engineers that developed these products
Spent more than 50% of my time as a hands on software developer
Established an offshore development center in New Delhi, India to enable a commercially sustainable
solution to manage the custom development and maintenance of our legacy product suite
Travelled globally and was an integral part of our pre-sales team, My role was to educate the customers
on the benefits of our technology and help them to figure out how to best apply it to their network
topology
