Bandung Bandowoso fell in love with the beautiful Princess Roro Jonggrang after defeating her evil father, King Prabubaka. However, Roro Jonggrang was sad over her father's death and did not want to marry Bandung. She proposed that she would marry him if he could build one thousand temples in one night. With the help of demons, Bandung nearly completed the task by midnight. But Roro Jonggrang had the women make loud rice grinding noises to make the roosters crow, signaling dawn had arrived. Bandung bandowoso got frustrated because he failed to complete the thousandt temple. “ the princess has deceived me !” following his anger,he cursed rorojonggrang,” you have cheated me. Now,thethousandt temple is you!,”. At once,the princess turned into a statue. Knowing this,bandungbondowoso regretted this and he went away into a far land.from then people called the temple Prambanantempleand the princess statue,RoroJonggrang statue.
