Southwest of Paris, on a stretch of road about 100km long, by the River Loire, are the sites of some of the best known chateaux of France. This area is the cradle of the French nation. The area is bounded by three major cathedrals – Chartres, Orleans and Tours.
Chartres cathedral is one of the early Gothic cathedral is known for its stained glass windows.
Orleans is the city of Joan of Arc, who is also referred to as the Maiden of Orleans. It was in Blois that she assembled an army to rescue the city of Orleans and therefore France, from the siege by the English in 1429.
The area is the sites of no less than 4 royal chateaux – Blois, Chambord, Amboise and Chanonceau.
In the mid-15C, France was ruled by powerful dukedoms. It is in Chateau of Blois, where the Francis I, the King of France re-asserted the absolute power of the French monarch and some time held his court there.
Chateau de Chambord was the equivalent of the palace of Versailles in the time of Francis I. The chateau was used as backdrop of a number of Hollywood movies.
Chateau d’Amboise was also a royal residence. It was here the Leonardo de Vinci came to spend his last years as guest of the King of France. He actually lived in a nearby house connected to the Chateau.
The prettiest and the most feminine of all chateau, the Chateau de Chenonceau is situated here. It was here that Queen Catherine de Medici lived and made it as her residence.
Lastly Tours, where the Tours cathedral is, was the city that saw the massacre of Catholic and Protestant, as they fought each others for power, in the religious wars. Today, it is an historical city full of beautiful old houses and nice cafes, with most tourist unaware of the blood that once flowed in streets.
If you live outside of Western Europe, you may not have heard of the Dordogne region of France. The region is in southwest France, south of the Loire Valley with its famous chateaux, east of Bordeaux, the top wine region of France and north of Toulouse, the industrial centre of southern France.
It is primarily a rural area, without large cities or Royal residence. Because of its narrow river valleys and limestone cliff, it is a very beautiful part of France. But the region is well known for its prehistoric cave paintings.
Historically Dordogne and this area of France was once the possession of England. Dordogne was effectively a troubled frontier between England and France. It was here where the Hundred Years’ War took place, from 1337 to 1453. So fortified villages, chateaux and churches are common. Dotted across this once frontier area are strategic located towns, on hill top, designed to control the fertile valleys.

The Mediterranean region with a coastline of about 46,000 km total length is full of human settlements from various sizes. High ridges at Gibraltar were assumed to have blocked the entry of Atlantic waters until about 5.5 million years ago, when these waters broke through to flood the Mediterranean. The Mediterranean Sea, which means “sea between the lands”, has been since the very early times of human history a cradle for many civilizations. The main reason for that is the mild climate suitable for agricultural development and for establishing urban areas, as well as the strategic location between Africa, Asia and Europe.
5 Of The Less Conventional Attractions You Can Find On The Costa Del Sol -Sim...lizseyi
What is the Costa del Sol “about” as far as you’re concerned? Ask a lot of people, and the answer might seem obvious: sun, sea, sangria…
But this coastal region of southern Spain isn’t merely a place to set up your sun lounger and feel grains of sand between your toes as you while away the hours on the beach. That’s because it also throws up no shortage of more ‘unusual’ attractions, which you’ll regret not including in your itinerary if you overlook them.
And of course, our own Málaga Airport private transfers here at Simply Shuttles can make it a quicker and easier process for you to experience them in person.

St. Tropez became "St. Trop" when the show business people, artists and writers all fell under the spell of this charming little port in the 1950's. In the summer one could bump into Picasso, Francoise Sagan, Jacques Prévert and many others. With the arrival of Brigitte Bardot in the 6O's the myth was installed for good. Since then St. Tropez has become the in vacation spot for chic Parisians and the international Jet Set.

Saint-Tropez is fashion! The Gulf’s most famous village has long been seen as a destination at the forefront of fashion and beauty. However the shop windows and boutiques have evolved over the decades, a trend that is accelerating. Like the legendary designers of the fifties who were behind Vachon and Choses on the harbour, Saint-Tropez today attracts the biggest international brands, some of which are also in Sainte-Maxime, Grimaud and Cavalaire. And it is fair to say that the fabulous outfits and accessories on display are given a further boost by the presence here of the world’s most beautiful women who wear them.

The image of luxury is reinforced by all the beautiful big yachts in the harbour, at least those that are able to enter! Others have to be content to anchor in the bay. These lavish vessels, some with a helicopter on the roof much to everyone’s admiration are an integral part of the Saint-Tropez landscape in summer. They have a well-established routine: departing for Ramatuelle’s Pampelonne beach around 11am, returning to harbour late afternoon, reversing gently into their berth, hull brushing hull, watched by wide- eyed children and their parents amazed at having this level of luxury so close. As night falls, captains give way to the orchestras and sequins of private parties on deck, watched over by the Bailli de Suffren’s statue.

L'aéroport accueille 5 000 avions soit 10 000 mouvements pour plusieurs milliers de passagers sur l'année avec un taux de fréquentation de 85 à 90% pour la période de Pâques jusqu'aux "Voiles de Saint-Tropez".

Unless of course you prefer their vintage models which also join in the parade…
