The document discusses different points of view in fiction. It explains that there are 5 main points of view:
1) First-person point of view is told from the perspective of someone who is involved in the story.
2) Third-person limited point of view is told from the perspective of one character and only reveals their thoughts and feelings.
3) Third-person omniscient point of view allows the narrator to know the thoughts and feelings of all characters.
4) Firsthand point of view involves an eyewitness account from someone directly involved in an event.
5) Secondhand point of view involves learning about an event from someone who was not directly involved but heard about it
1) History is shaped by human biases and interpretations rather than objective facts. There is no single true interpretation of past events.
2) Scientists have determined that all humans alive today descended from a single group in Africa around 70,000 years ago, based on genetic evidence. However, different disciplines disagree on the exact timing of human origins and migration patterns.
3) Major catastrophes like meteor impacts, volcanic eruptions, and diseases have repeatedly changed human civilization and population sizes throughout history.
History can be interpreted in different ways based on facts from primary and secondary sources. While based on facts, people interpret history differently, influencing how it is defined and written. Symbolism has been important to human development and culture, and gives insight into human behavior through artifacts. A catastrophic event like major volcanic eruptions may have occurred thousands of years ago, blocking the sun with dust and causing global climate change, droughts, and famine that led to the decline of civilizations.
This document summarizes troubleshooting an error of "Too many open files" when running MySQL. The solution involved increasing the open_files_limit parameter, but it was not taking effect. Through debugging with gdb and tracing the code, it was found that mysqld was capping the open files limit to 1024 despite configuration changes. The root cause was that mysqld_safe was not passing the increased open files limit to the ulimit command due to a missing check.
ESS-Bilbao Initiative Workshop. SNS Linac experienceESS BILBAO
This document discusses the history and operation of the Spallation Neutron Source (SNS), a neutron scattering facility located at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL). It describes the various components of the SNS including the ion source, radio frequency quadrupole, drift tube linac, coupled cavity linac, and superconducting linac. It provides timelines showing the construction and commissioning of the different components from 2002 to 2008. Charts are included showing beam power and accumulated fluence for different parts of the accelerator.
The document discusses the Content Management Interoperability Services (CMIS) standard for breaking down content silos. CMIS provides a common protocol that allows applications to work with different content management repositories uniformly. It defines a domain model, services, a query language, and protocol bindings. CMIS supports use cases like managing records across repositories, integrating enterprise applications with repositories, and federating searches across multiple repositories. The standard is maturing with additions like secondary object types and type mutability in future versions. CMIS shows potential to become as important to content applications as SQL was for databases.

This document discusses effective advertising methods for new businesses. It considers print media like newspapers, magazines and leaflets but notes that websites, blogs, and social media may be more cost effective and have a wider reach. While the client, Victoria Oldham, owner of writing business Global Words, wanted to use leaflets, the assistant suggests staying internet-based by improving her existing website and blog. Research shows people are less likely to open brochures without compelling headlines, and internet use is rising globally while print readership declines. If the business expands, social media offers the largest potential audience. In the end, the assistant designs marketing leaflets for Global Words as requested while still advising internet promotion for greatest future impact.
This document is the bulletin from the Manchester Church of Christ in Manchester, NH dated April 15, 2009. It contains announcements about restarting the church food pantry, a food drive being held on April 26, and a request for volunteers to help the Lauzon family move. The main article discusses Jesus' parable about the rich fool from Luke 12 and encourages being wise by storing up treasures in heaven rather than being selfish. It also provides details about upcoming worship services and small groups.
This document discusses overcoming the apathy of financial institutions towards carbon capture and storage (CCS) projects. It argues that CCS should be an attractive target for banks due to the large scale of projected investment needed. However, engagement with financial institutions in 2011-2012 revealed concerns about technology risk, uncertain economics, and a lack of real projects. Updates in 2013 note that real, well-structured projects with risk mitigation are starting to gain interest from banks. The document concludes that demonstrating tangible cost reductions and progress is key to stimulating greater financial support and achieving affordable financing for CCS.

The document describes a winning intern advertising campaign for BBDO Detroit called "Get To Know Me" that was created to promote a new car. The campaign was built around the idea that getting to know someone new can lead anywhere, and applied this concept to buying a new car. Several example ads are provided that use language like "Get to know me and you'll find..." to highlight features like powerful engines, cargo space, fuel efficiency, warranties and configurations to present the car in a personal way and encourage consumers to learn more.

Rethinking Kållered │ From Big Box to a Reuse Hub: A Transformation Journey ...SirmaDuztepeliler
"Rethinking Kållered │ From Big Box to a Reuse Hub: A Transformation Journey Toward Sustainability"
The booklet of my master’s thesis at the Department of Architecture and Civil Engineering at Chalmers University of Technology. (Gothenburg, Sweden)
This thesis explores the transformation of the vacated (2023) IKEA store in Kållered, Sweden, into a "Reuse Hub" addressing various user types. The project aims to create a model for circular and sustainable economic practices that promote resource efficiency, waste reduction, and a shift in societal overconsumption patterns.
Reuse, though crucial in the circular economy, is one of the least studied areas. Most materials with reuse potential, especially in the construction sector, are recycled (downcycled), causing a greater loss of resources and energy. My project addresses barriers to reuse, such as difficult access to materials, storage, and logistics issues.
Aims:
• Enhancing Access to Reclaimed Materials: Creating a hub for reclaimed construction materials for both institutional and individual needs.
• Promoting Circular Economy: Showcasing the potential and variety of reusable materials and how they can drive a circular economy.
• Fostering Community Engagement: Developing spaces for social interaction around reuse-focused stores and workshops.
• Raising Awareness: Transforming a former consumerist symbol into a center for circular practices.
Highlights:
• The project emphasizes cross-sector collaboration with producers and wholesalers to repurpose surplus materials before they enter the recycling phase.
• This project can serve as a prototype for reusing many idle commercial buildings in different scales and sizes.
• The findings indicate that transforming large vacant properties can support sustainable practices and present an economically attractive business model with high social returns at the same time.
• It highlights the potential of how sustainable practices in the construction sector can drive societal change.
