A study of 1,000 children and mothers over 7 years found that children whose mothers had type 2 diabetes or gestational diabetes during pregnancy were more likely to develop autism or other developmental disorders. Specifically, 9.3% of children whose mothers had type 2 diabetes during pregnancy showed signs of autism, and 11.6% showed developmental disabilities, which were almost double the rates of children whose mothers did not have metabolic conditions during pregnancy. Mothers of children with autism or developmental disorders were more likely to be obese or have other metabolic conditions like diabetes or high blood pressure during pregnancy compared to mothers of children without disorders.
This survey analyzed breakfast habits and opinions from students with questions about whether they eat breakfast, what they usually eat, how much it costs, how long it takes to prepare, whether it is healthy or important. It thanks several students who participated in the survey to help analyze breakfast habits and health.
Surrogate mothers receive hormone medications before and during pregnancy to supplement the hormones needed to carry a child. These include antibiotics to prevent infection, birth control pills or progesterone pills to synchronize the surrogate's cycle with the egg donor's, and injections of Lupron to medically shut down the surrogate's natural cycle. Once the lining of the uterus is thickened using estrogen, progesterone is given to make the uterus receptive for embryo implantation and to maintain the pregnancy. Ultrasounds and blood tests are used to monitor hormone levels and uterine thickness. If implantation is successful, estrogen and progesterone are generally continued through the first trimester until the placenta takes over hormone production. Side effects of the hormone treatments may include bloating, irrit
A woman must eligible to be a surrogate mother if she fulfills the below-mentioned parameters. Always check these parameters before finalizing a surrogate mother.

The document discusses the harmful effects that drug and alcohol use can have on unborn fetuses. It states that whatever substances the mother ingests are also received by the developing fetus, and certain drugs like cocaine can result in miscarriage, low birth weight, and developmental problems. Marijuana and alcohol are also dangerous as they have been linked to premature birth, developmental delays, and physical defects in newborns. The document cautions that even prescription and over-the-counter drugs should be carefully monitored during pregnancy as they too can negatively impact fetal development and the health of the child. Mothers are advised to avoid all drug and excessive alcohol use while pregnant in order to have a healthy baby.
This case study provides information on a 4-year, 4-month, 14-day old child named E.C.A. The child was born via normal delivery but had to stay in the NICU for a week due to the mother having a UTI during pregnancy. Currently, the child is generally healthy but has 5 dental caries. The child's family lives in a rural area and practices good hygiene. Both parents have a college education and work to support their family of 4. The child's growth appears normal based on regular health checks and a nutritious diet that includes vitamins and 3 meals per day.
Pregnancy requires mothers to maintain a healthy diet low in mercury and lead to avoid harming the embryo's development. Mothers should also avoid teratogens like illicit drugs, alcohol, and cigarettes which can cause low birth weight, learning disabilities, and fetal alcohol syndrome in babies. During pregnancy, mothers need to prevent infections and take precautions if their blood type is Rh negative to protect the growing fetus as it develops organs in the first trimester and matures in the second and third trimesters before birth.
This document discusses various aspects of pregnancy based on the author's personal experience of being pregnant. It covers stages of fetal growth, effects on family members, health risks for mother and baby, and societal/ethical issues. The author learned about emotional changes in early pregnancy and physical changes as the baby grew. Family members were supportive but it increased responsibilities. Risks from substances like alcohol mandated caution. Issues like teenage pregnancy, abortion, and fertility treatments require societal understanding and support for those facing challenges. The author aims to educate others based on this learning.
This document discusses various aspects of pregnancy based on the author's personal experience of being pregnant. It covers stages of fetal growth, effects on family members, health risks for mother and baby, and societal/ethical issues. The author observes physical and emotional changes during pregnancy and learns from family about proper prenatal care. Pregnancy is portrayed as a life changing experience that impacts the mother, father, and wider family psychologically and socially. Risks of substances like alcohol and proper nutrition are emphasized. The discussion examines debates around topics like teenage pregnancy, abortion, and genetic selection.
This document discusses pregnancy from multiple perspectives. It begins by describing pregnancy as a natural yet awe-inspiring process. It then discusses the author's personal experiences with pregnancy, including the physical and emotional changes she observed. The document also explores how pregnancy affects family members, the health risks for mother and baby, and various societal and ethical issues related to pregnancy like teenage pregnancy and genetic selection. Overall, the document provides a holistic overview of pregnancy by discussing biological processes, personal experiences, impacts on family, and societal considerations.
Abortion refers to the termination of a pregnancy before the fetus is viable. Common reasons for abortion include rape, health risks to the mother, being a student, objections from parents, an unsupportive partner, and inconvenience. Abortions can cause physical and psychological effects like habitual miscarriage, menstrual issues, discomfort, preterm births, bleeding, shock, insomnia, and weight loss. Advantages are that it protects a mother's health if pregnancy poses serious risks, and some abortions can be done without surgery early in pregnancy. However, abortion is considered morally wrong by some as it takes a human life, and there are legal restrictions on abortions in many places.

More than 3 million unintended pregnancies occur in the US each year, with 47% of women using no contraception and 53% using contraception inconsistently or incorrectly. Common early signs of pregnancy include missed or late periods, breast tenderness, nausea, vomiting, fatigue, and mood changes. A pregnancy test can confirm pregnancy about two weeks after ovulation by detecting the hormone hCG in urine or blood. For an unexpected positive result, a woman has several options - continuing the pregnancy and parenting or placing for adoption, abortion, or foster care placement until she is able to parent. Seeking counsel and support is important for making the best decision.
Lenore Gaudin discusses reproductive justice and the importance of nutrition during pregnancy. She summarizes a 1941 study that found improved birth outcomes, including lower rates of preterm birth and infant mortality, when expectant mothers received a superior nutritional diet. Gaudin argues that greater focus on prenatal nutrition education and minimizing medical interventions during birth could help address issues like high preterm birth rates and violence in society by supporting mother-infant bonding. Her goal is to promote understanding of human reproduction and treatment of expectant parents as a reproductive justice issue.
Do women have rights over their own body when it comes to abortion?Shaheer Kamran
This document discusses abortion rights and whether women have the right to make decisions about their own bodies. It argues that abortion is a woman's fundamental right and that banning abortion denies women equal rights. It provides several reasons why abortion should be legal and accessible, including that unwanted pregnancies can negatively impact women's lives, pregnancies from rape can traumatize women, and abortions are sometimes medically necessary when the mother's life is at risk. The document also argues that a fetus is not a person and cannot feel pain in early stages of development, so abortion is not equivalent to murder. Overall, it strongly supports a woman's right to choose and access safe abortion services.
Several factors are common among female substance abusers including a history of abuse and mental illness. Pregnant women who abuse substances are more likely to experience domestic violence and their children often face developmental issues. Prenatal exposure to substances like opioids, cocaine, marijuana, alcohol, and tobacco can lead to low birth weight, birth defects, developmental delays, withdrawal symptoms, and behavioral problems. While not all exposed children are negatively impacted, the home environment plays a key role in development. Healthcare providers should assess home situations and provide supportive services to families affected by substance abuse.
Clean Start is a community education program designed to increase knowledge and awareness of the risks associated with substance use during pregnancy and how to find help.
1. Dating and courtship are important for getting to know a potential lifelong partner's character, background, interests, and compatibility before marriage. It allows a couple to determine if they can get along and build a strong foundation.
2. During pregnancy, expectant mothers should seek regular prenatal care, eat a balanced diet, and avoid unhealthy habits. Common health issues like gestational diabetes and preeclampsia should be monitored.
3. After giving birth, both mother and baby require close observation due to risks of postpartum blues, infections, and other complications. Newborn screening helps detect treatable conditions early.
Steve pickering's record of may 23 2011 dr simoneChildabuseMaine
Dr. Karen Simone from the Maine Poison Control Center provided information about the results of a drug test showing 56ng/ml of l-methamphetamine in a child's urine sample. She stated that this is a very small amount, and it is unlikely the child was exposed to a meth lab, as meth from a lab would contain mostly d-methamphetamine. The only products she knew of that could produce this result were a Vicks inhaler or the drug Selegiline. Based on the conversation, the investigator was inclined to set aside the methamphetamine aspect of the investigation.
This document discusses issues surrounding a woman's ability to control her reproductive choices and start a family on her own terms. It describes societal expectations that women have children and double standards that make it difficult for women to access contraception, abortion, and sterilization procedures. While men can freely choose to participate in an unintended pregnancy or not, women face obstacles like waiting periods, required ultrasounds, and being denied sterilization if unmarried or deemed "too young". The document argues that if men can opt out of pregnancy responsibilities, women should have the right to freely control their own bodies and reproductive decisions as well.
Abortion; Pro-life or pro-choice The never-ending debat.docxbartholomeocoombs
This document discusses the debate around abortion from both pro-life and pro-choice perspectives. It provides arguments for when abortion should be considered acceptable, such as in cases of rape, incest, fetal abnormalities, or health risks to the mother. However, it also acknowledges pro-life positions that a fetus is a human life from conception. The document examines complex issues around bodily autonomy, quality of life, and legal precedents without taking a definitive stance. It concludes that abortion decisions are personal and should be left to parents based on their circumstances.

1. My girlfriend took zofran more than 2 years ago and her
baby had a lot of birth defects because of the zofran?
Many women take medication as the benefit of the medication outweighs the risk of defects. During
my pregnancy with my youngest who is now 4.5yrs old, I relied on zofran wafers to get through due
to severe morning sickness the entire pregnancy. But my obs explained the risks.
I'm sorry to hear about your girlfriends loss, this would've been very hard for her.
My first daughter was stillborn. The mother chooses. The cause of her death was/is unknown.
Explained it was considered safe although using this when pregnant hadnt been thoroughly
investigated. Even after an autopsy, the cause zofran birth defects impartial opinion of her death
was never found. The reason will never be known.
Thankfully my daughter was born healthy with no defects..
It comes down to if the benefits of the drug outweigh the risks. Many things cause defects including
genetics and mother nature, it may not have been zofran, or it may have contributed. 10 years later I
