2. The narrative for my music video
- An unidentified character that shows their experiences from their travels to
different countries, whilst enjoying different cultures whilst escaping the life that
they live back at home in London. The character feels like they are trapped whilst
living in dealing with the pressures of society this tires in with the original meaning
of the song which is about the pressures of success and how it can affect an
individual and relationships it touches on fears and insecurities attached to the
pressure. The song is deeply personal which connects with the idea of leaving old life
life (mentally) behind however the holiday is physically leaving the old life. The music
music video uncovers these truths of the non-Western world whilst showing the
immense difference between the two.
My idea:
Close –up images of different models preferably from my media class or
from college in different places in the college/ outside the college lip
singing the chorus for the song, “ don’t think about it too much”.
For the rest of the video a fast paste montage of what the unidentified
character was able to see (pictures and videos) from there holidays.
The close up vs the montage of photos shows a physical contrast
3. Duration: 4.21 mins however I feel as though I will cut the song by a quarter.
The artists are Drake ft Sampha- Too much
The location choices: vary from London: Asia: Caribbean
The Target audience: For all but teenagers and over due to interests
- Psychographics ( Those interested in travel and widening their knowledge of different cultures)
5. Genre: Western vs non- Western culture
Theme: Realism & Escapism
The subject matter: Escaping the reality of life regarding the pressures and how the stresses
can affect relationships, friendships and mental health that aren’t acknowledged enough by
people in society, by travelling abroad and experiencing new things and cultures allows the
person to be free from the pressures of life.
The viewpoint: POV
The feasibility: The film itself is an oxymoron, as it flips between the Western and non-Western
environments. Non- fictional although it may come across as surreal the surreal element does not
require internet photography and expert photoshop knowledge.
6. The attraction for an audience: Realism and naturism.
The concept of travelling around the globe acts surreal as it shows the divide between
normal daily activities and the surroundings one would carry out in London. Compared to
those not living in Western culture and the daily activities and how different environment is
in a different country. This may resonate with those who have travelled before and
experienced a culture shock showing the divide in the social norms and values both
countries share. However, from the use of the media and politics, a lot of these countries are
represented in a negative light, The videos that have been taken deflect this narrative and
show that these countries’ cultures are truly beautiful and should be appreciated. Whilst
being there and experiencing life for a period of time the media is all real but not
necessarily all false.
