The Prado Museum in Madrid, Spain is considered one of the finest art museums in the world housing one of the best collections of European and Spanish art from the 12th to 20th centuries. Founded in 1819 primarily as a museum for paintings and sculptures, the Prado now contains over 8,000 drawings, 7,600 paintings, 4,800 prints, and 1,000 sculptures along with other works of art and documents.
