Mountain goats are highly agile mammals that confidently traverse rocky mountain ledges for safety from predators. They only become vulnerable when wandering away from the ledges to graze in meadows, where they can be preyed on by grizzlies, wolves, coyotes, or large eagles that target the calves. Found exclusively in steep, rocky areas where mountains meet forests, mountain goats have cushioned, skid-proof hooves adapted for their sure-footedness and agility in navigating rugged terrain.
