1. 1. Monitoring
We do the below activity
 Daily Checks
 Check alert log of all database in every shift for any oracle error.
 Check grid control alert for CPU, memory, network utilization and any oracle error
 Generate AWR report and check database performance
 Status of RMAN backup and export backup.
 standby lag status
 Archive log space
 Tablespace free space
2. Backup and recovery
 We take FULL RMAN backup daily
 We take export backup of all important schemas
 We test the validity of export backup by recovery of tables from backup.
 We have maintained the backup retention policy as per I&S team recommendation
3. Security
 We have implemented the IP whitelisting in database so that connection from specific IP
address can get access to database.
 We have implemented the encryption of data on network.
 We have implemented password policy for database users (password should contain
one lower char, one upper char, one special char,8 char long, password should differ
from previous password by 2 char)
 We have implemented audit trail for login and logoff ,and ddl monitoring.Also we have
created daily report on email to check any ddl activity on database.
4. Performance and tuning.
 We do index rebuilding and analyze of important schema weekly
 Defragment of tables having more than 50% fragmentation.
 Purging of database from online schema to archival schema
 Fix the best plan for bad performing query.
 Weekly report for CPU and and memory utilization
5. Disaster Recovery
 We have implemented the 3Way DR setup for disaster recovery. One is at Near DR
setup at IRCA and other is at FAR DR at Secunderabad
 We continuously monitor the synching of all DR site using CP DRM tool and manually
using shell scripts

2.  We have already tested the switchover and switchback without touching primary
database using CP
6. Database creation, upgradation and migration
 We do installation and upgradations of oracle database from time to time.
 Patching of database as per the requirement.
 Create the new databases when required
NOTEAlthough we are using all important things to protect the database from any attack .We can use
oracle database vault to secure database from internal and external threat .Currently we are not using
database vault.
