Modular design involves subdividing a system into independent, interchangeable modules. A modular system has the following characteristics: it is compact and easy to approach; installation and repairs can be done quickly by exchanging modules; and facilities can be added or removed easily. As a case study, a house was constructed from different modules that could be transported and used for residential purposes. Modular systems follow functions, with each module performing necessary work independently according to the overall purpose of the modular furniture or building.
