There are many players who want the freedom to play lottery from anywhere. There are players who want their privacy. There are players who do not own a Smartphone. Not only LocusPlay SMS Betting solution helps you reach all such players but also it helps you increase your lottery sales.
Lotteries across 3 continents are already using LocusPlay mobile lottery platform. Customers from emerging market have experienced 4X growth in lottery sales. 50% of our customers switched from their existing technology providers to LocusPlay. We are honored with the amount of trust customers have put in LocusPlay. With over 100 million tickets sold using LocusPlay with up to 80% savings in capital investment.
Don’t be surprised if I tell you today that 8 out of 10 lotteries in the emerging markets fail in less than one year of starting. I have no official analysis or statistics to prove this, and I doubt anybody has carried out a field research on this either. But I am still confident about this bold statement, and I am not an analyst or a researcher. I am telling you this from the hard-core fact of me being associated with the lottery industry in the emerging markets for past 8 years. Having traveled to 30+ countries and interacted with 100+ lottery stakeholders, I very well understand the intricacies of lotteries in the emerging markets, especially Africa. There are many individuals and companies wanting to venture into lotteries. Majority of them do not have any experience about lottery, neither do they understand how a lottery functions. They too think that lottery is the de-facto money making machine and if they invest $100 today, it will give them a return of $200 in a couple of months.
In today’s competitive marketplace, lottery operators and distributors are constantly searching for new sales venues for their products. Consumers are increasingly opting for convenience: drive-thru sales are up and many people now pay their bills online. This trend is troublesome for lottery operators who rely on consumers to visit a lotto terminal in order to pay for tickets. Less and less people are walking into stores these days, and as a result, lottery sales are in jeopardy.
LocusPlay solves this problem by delivering an integrated suite of lottery applications directly onto consumer's mobile phones. This eliminates the need for consumers to visit a physical lottery terminal to buy a ticket, and expands the population of potential customers to everyone with a mobile phone. As a result, an entirely new distribution line is available and opportunities for lottery sales are greatly increased.
Business plan plays a vital role especially when you are planning to start a lottery. I would like to share my thoughts on why and how important is the business plan.
A business plan allows you to set up goals in a planned and organized way. When you have a business plan ready, you know the next objective to be achieved. You are aware of the situations and ready for the next move, it also helps you to keep track of progress made during each phase of the lottery.
Lottery sales might seem easy, as there is an impression that people rush to lottery outlets when they wish to play. Practically, the lottery business is very challenging especially when it comes to promoting. Even after considering the Investment, lottery operations require to be tech savvy, dynamically skilled and to be led by veteran industry experts to leverage the “ROI”.

Registered players can play the lottery, process winning tickets to their account, and withdraw funds all from the convenience of their own phone. SMS notifications can be set up to alert players to winning numbers. Finally, consumers need not worry about security: all transactions occur over 1st level security in case the phone is ever lost or stolen.

Lotteries must evaluate the performance and experience of technology partner thoroughly before partnering with them, especially their experience with the kind of market the lottery is into. The success of a lottery significantly depends upon how well the technology partner understands the intricacies of local lottery culture and player psychology.
Especially, if you are a startup lottery you must ensure that the technology provider is capable of guiding you with proper planning and pre-implementation strategies before even you delve further into this. It is extremely critical for a startup lottery to get to “the state of readiness” before even launching the lottery and rolling out the technology.

Climate Impact of Software Testing at Nordic Testing DaysKari Kakkonen
My slides at Nordic Testing Days 6.6.2024
Climate impact / sustainability of software testing discussed on the talk. ICT and testing must carry their part of global responsibility to help with the climat warming. We can minimize the carbon footprint but we can also have a carbon handprint, a positive impact on the climate. Quality characteristics can be added with sustainability, and then measured continuously. Test environments can be used less, and in smaller scale and on demand. Test techniques can be used in optimizing or minimizing number of tests. Test automation can be used to speed up testing.

zkStudyClub - Reef: Fast Succinct Non-Interactive Zero-Knowledge Regex ProofsAlex Pruden
This paper presents Reef, a system for generating publicly verifiable succinct non-interactive zero-knowledge proofs that a committed document matches or does not match a regular expression. We describe applications such as proving the strength of passwords, the provenance of email despite redactions, the validity of oblivious DNS queries, and the existence of mutations in DNA. Reef supports the Perl Compatible Regular Expression syntax, including wildcards, alternation, ranges, capture groups, Kleene star, negations, and lookarounds. Reef introduces a new type of automata, Skipping Alternating Finite Automata (SAFA), that skips irrelevant parts of a document when producing proofs without undermining soundness, and instantiates SAFA with a lookup argument. Our experimental evaluation confirms that Reef can generate proofs for documents with 32M characters; the proofs are small and cheap to verify (under a second).

A tale of scale & speed: How the US Navy is enabling software delivery from l...sonjaschweigert1
Rapid and secure feature delivery is a goal across every application team and every branch of the DoD. The Navy’s DevSecOps platform, Party Barge, has achieved:
- Reduction in onboarding time from 5 weeks to 1 day
- Improved developer experience and productivity through actionable findings and reduction of false positives
- Maintenance of superior security standards and inherent policy enforcement with Authorization to Operate (ATO)
Development teams can ship efficiently and ensure applications are cyber ready for Navy Authorizing Officials (AOs). In this webinar, Sigma Defense and Anchore will give attendees a look behind the scenes and demo secure pipeline automation and security artifacts that speed up application ATO and time to production.
We will cover:
- How to remove silos in DevSecOps
- How to build efficient development pipeline roles and component templates
- How to deliver security artifacts that matter for ATO’s (SBOMs, vulnerability reports, and policy evidence)
- How to streamline operations with automated policy checks on container images

Effective Application Security in Software Delivery lifecycle using Deployment Firewall and DBOM
The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management.
The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM).
Speakers:
Bob Boule
Robert Boule is a technology enthusiast with PASSION for technology and making things work along with a knack for helping others understand how things work. He comes with around 20 years of solution engineering experience in application security, software continuous delivery, and SaaS platforms. He is known for his dynamic presentations in CI/CD and application security integrated in software delivery lifecycle.
Gopinath Rebala
Gopinath Rebala is the CTO of OpsMx, where he has overall responsibility for the machine learning and data processing architectures for Secure Software Delivery. Gopi also has a strong connection with our customers, leading design and architecture for strategic implementations. Gopi is a frequent speaker and well-known leader in continuous delivery and integrating security into software delivery.
